About A5 for $57888

Bros need your comment on the A5 for $57888. It doesn't come with power window and remote car key after calling the sales person last saturday. Is it possible to fix the power window and convert the manual car key to remote? At what cost? Does it void the warranty? Thanks.

Firstly, yes, they will, in my view void the warranty for the electrical side of things. May I suggest, that fixing the window will further shorten the life, like mine, the crank break. A common VW thingy on the window.

no power window or remote key ...sound like a famous korean brand who like to strip the feature to basic in order to save on import cost.

So it is not worth to have it? The OMV is quite low only 11k. I personally feel that it is a nice and good car compare to jap car in terms of stability.

Low-spec version.

Do consider very carefully.

 

Power windows and keys are small matters.

 

Get the best bargain you can.

Frus thing is that they are not eager to negotiate.

Almost 'take it or leave it' position.

If OMV is only 11k, I think $57888 is too high price. The AD will have a high profit margin.

Actually I feel that power window and remote car key is quite important. Imagine children can wind down the window manually and do something dangerously during driving. Imagine you park in a big carpark and forgot which level you park , and it will be useful to have remote car key to locate it.

no power windows ?!? almost unheard of these days .... maybe front have but rear dun have still can accept ...... However, might not be a bad thing after all .... less chance of electrical failure

 

as fortress have put it, aftermarket power windows sometimes quality not very good, so have to consider carefully ....

the skodas here are low-specced anyway, so minus away the windows + key fob doesnt make a whole lot of diff

 

price is abt there lah ... normal A5's OMV shouyld be ard 16 - 17K. So in terms of pricing, they haven changed one bit

 

A Daihatsu Sirion of OMV 11K+ is selling for abt 50K. A skoda tt costs 8K more ? Its a no brainer

 

At 57,888 and OMV of 11K. Dep is ard $5,200 per year. Not bad I would say. However, do take note of the year of manufacture.

Why dont u consider the sonata. A bro here just bot a 2+ yr old @ 38k nia.

 

20k diff is more than enough to cover the FC diff btw the 2 cars.

 

I did a simple calculation of the diff in petrol top-up for my ex-lancer & the current sonata.

 

FC / Milage / Tank cap / Full tank petrol cost

 

Lancer : 12km/ltr / 610km / 50 ltrs / $103.85

 

Sonata : 8.5km/ltr / 650km / 70 ltrs / $145.39

 

Diff is $42 per top up or $210 per mth. One year only $2520 difference nia.

 

Road tax diff is $866.

 

With a 20k bluffer, its more than enough to cover for many many years.

 

But Sonata is a diff class from Lancer. 2.4ltrs vs 1.6lts. Coughing out $3,386 more is well worth it.

The car is good if you do not mind what has been said about the maintenance...

 

After reading this morning about the OMV, hope the issue of the Porsche story will not affect this car. FYI - my A4 Classic, very basic has an OMV of S$17,300 and note that the Euro then was much lower 1:1.4 and now is 1:2.12. How can this be...

we must compare apple with apple. Skoda is conti and Daihatsu is not. Normally conti car price is higher even with the same omv as those make in jap/korea. I look for skoda becos it is something i can afford and would like to upgrade to a more stable one as compare to the my current one - lancer (coming to 5 yrs). maybe itchy backside.

seems overpriced, imho. Those niceties should be considered the norm rather than the exception these days. Plus the OMV very low.

think you might be mistaken abt my post ..... tts why I said that to pay ONLY 8K more for a skoda compared to a Daihatsu, its easy --> SKODA !!

isnt it good to have low OMV ? tts what makes this car alot cheaper than usual mah ... since custom duty (20%) & ARF (100%) is a multiplier of OMV .....

Unfair to put the Sirion next to A5;

Diff in every aspect of car ownership.

 

May worth more consideration if some 'sweeteners' are thrown in

if not included already:

e.g.

16" alloy rims;

Top range V-Kool;

Leather seats;

3-yr full servicing, FOC, including consumables -

oils, plugs, pads, filters;

 

what else?

but apples and oranges aside, Cost structure wise, there is no cost component to differentiate contis and asian makes right? e.g. a "conti premium" component that adds on to the final price. imo, the omv already take into acc the perceived higher valuation that the skoda would have had for being a conti make. Open Market Value, the valuator would have taken into acc this concern already isn't it?
