I get good mileage with Shell98, less so with Shell 95, which I dont understand cos so many experts tell me if the car can work on 95 its mileage is the same. Real life experience differs thou.

That's the first time I have heard of this.. Interesting.. Considering Shell was the first to up their prices yesterday..

 

To be fair, i was told by the foreman that those who pump V-Power was not affected.

Makes me wonder if Shell is pushing people to pump their higher margin V-Power.

 

Another fact is, i pump the shell from Tapah R&R ... incidentally, the foreman relate another story to me about a client of his having the same problem with Tapah Shell before i told him i pumped at Tapah. So, i wonder if the case is isolated in which Tapah Shell is selling mixed RON petrol (91 + 97), which affected my car in which minimum is RON95.

 

never like Shxll in singapore, makes my car engine sound so much rougher.. I rather take caltex, SPC, mobil but not shxll..

My experience with CAS was also good. That was back in 2003 where my COE car stalled at petrol station. Called CAS, they send a road assistance down. Unable to solve the problem, he then send a tow truck back. Car was towed to CAS Sin Ming for further checking.

 

The next working day, the technician called me to collect my car and he found no problem at all. When collecting, I went to the counter to pay but was told no charges for checking. So I just collect key and drove off. Till now also dont know wats wrong wif it during that time at the petrol station.

 

 

I pumped shell many times up north and even went as low as RON 91 cause the thai petrol station ran out of other grades of petrol. No problem at for my Sunny.

Most petrol station in MY is privately owned franchise unlike here. D margin from sales of petrol is very thin. Something like 6% commission. So, some of them monkey wif it. If u need 2 travel long distance, pump when it is half tank. Only pump @ petrol station wif high traffic volume. Those wif low volume has higher chances of monkey biz.

 

I have no problem with Petronas everywhere i go. The best is, at 2nd Link, Shell and Esso always very crowded whereas Petronas always dont have to wait.

 

MY Caltex - seldom use them, cause they dont have many kiosk.

MY Esso - not the same standard as SG Esso.

MY Shell - as i understand, is the most highly patronized kiosk in MY... they advertised a lot, and they always claim that they petrol is the most fuel efficient.

damn i've been pumping Shell 95! ok once i redeem all my shell points i'll switch....

 

No need to panic. Since u've been pumping shell and so far so good, no need for a switch. Unless ur mind can't take it.

If theres really something wrong wif shell, then till today why so cars still pump there. There're more shell stations than any other brand ard..

Is your's the Volvo-derived 2.5L 5-cylinder TC engine (ST)?

I can understand it being more sensitive to the petrol quality used.

 

But if yours is the normal 1.6L Zetec engine from Henry, I would be very surprised, even if the petrol was adulterated (ad-mixed) with lower-quality fuel. I am sure this engine can even go on 92R petrol!

 

p.s. Are Henry workshops that difficult to find in MY?
