Genie47 1st Gear August 14, 2010 Author Share August 14, 2010 thanks bro. will do more research before i convert. OK to cut some research time, you got to know that to convert where you live and where you work does factor. I stay in the north and work somewhere in the midwest. So I get a source gas near home (Mandai) and near work (Toh Tuck). If I run out of gas on the way to work, I get the gas at Toh Tuck. If I run out of gas near home, I get from Mandai. Don't go and die die must pump gas. You are not taxi driver. For conversion, you have to weigh in the idea of sacrificing load space from your boot. If you can live with that, go ahead. If you cannot, don't. Conversion doesn't bring problems. The main problems I foresee is what this thread stated. Ignition. Gas is difficult to spark and CNG is a spark ignited fuel. Just make sure your ignition system is really good. If it can ignite petrol, IT ISN'T A GUARANTEE THAT IT CAN IGNITE CNG. Petrol is easier to ignite and ignition problems are more or less ignored by modern ignition systems. Not so for CNG. As for the talk about added dead weight from the cylinder, it is hogwash. Any car you buy from the market now is a passenger car. It is designed to carry passengers. That dead cylinder is about the same weight as an adult passenger. If passengers can affect your car's fuel economy, that is a poorly designed car. Finally, even with the CNG levy, it is still cheaper than petrol but the ROI is now even longer. ↡ Advertisement
