Hi guys,

any1 has a good aircon workshop familiar with our cars to recommend?? tried checking in the workshop listing and realised there are none... This morning was going into JB for golf and was stuck at the checkpt for about 45mins and had noticed that aircon compressor cut off after the car was sitting idle for about 1/2hr... maybe aircon gas insufficient/loss you think??

When ur car is idle for 30mins wind down the windows to listen to your engine. Normally there should be a loud fan humming sound coming from the engine comparement.

Also do take note of your temp gauge, does it increase when you idle or stuck long in the traffics.

If yes, your condenser motor or what they call the secondary fan is faulty.

I can bet it is this case!

Check the evaporator, if you can see bubbles in the circular glass means it is lack of gas. This only indicate that there is a leak, but you need to check where is the location using a "colour lantern"(might be using a wrong term). It will change colour when/where there is a leak detected.

As for the change, a good reliable on I have used is CAS, at Sin Ming.

A faulty compressor is the most commonly cited problem at workshops. Nevertheless, it will be prudent to check the evaporator coil, level of refrigerant first.

i tink wat u r referring is filter/drier (wit terminals next to round glass fitting wit wirings for high/low safety cut-off purposes to protect kompressor)...........sorry if i'm wrong

Hi, would be glad if you have checked and get back to the forum what is wrong with your aircon. Ihad encountered this issue in my car, when I left the car idling and not moving , the aircon cut off after 20min under the hot sun. But then i drove around and the aircon got kick in again.

Yup same thing here...after driving off aircon back to normal... Think its like what Limlien says, maybe my secondary fan faulty. My engine temp gauge did go pass 100C when I was waiting to clear the checkpt... will be visiting Jaffa on the 28th..will let u all know... *sigh* car coming to 3 yrs on april09... time to start thinking..

Yeap!

Thats very common of Skoda Superb. Keke.. Mine also failed.. Thats why i know.

Normally the aircon gas leak, the next time you on the aircon it will be hot all the way... or when you on the aircon there is pungent smell or u can see slight white smoke coming out of the vents...

Other than that i cannot help.

Does Superb has this common a/c problem that under a sunny hot day. Need to turn a/c temp down to max 18'C to have coolness if fan is not a problem? I heard from workshop that this car usual coolness set at 18-19'C.
