Chongster 6th Gear October 14, 2008 Share October 14, 2008 i am a frequent traveller on the KPE and it gets me from point A to B rather quickly, at 70 km so long as no one tries to overtake or do anything silly. maybe we can explore that instead. Razgriz Clutched October 14, 2008 Share October 14, 2008 i tink not fair to van drivers to say they road hogging we also can see cars slowly shaking in lane 1? so they should educate in such a way "if you are slow, move off, drive slow lane" if u drive fast, regardless what veh u drive, keep right isnt it betta den restricting so much? yet we see so many crazy ass driving a honda slower than my berlingo on the highway, when beam him, he don move off?? crazy right
Joajas Neutral Newbie October 14, 2008 Share October 14, 2008 vans and lorries are not allowed in land 1 in the first place. Its the "Do whatever you want, just dun get caught" rule thats why they are there And also Motorcycle What's wrong with a bike on lane 1???
Sony 1st Gear October 14, 2008 Share October 14, 2008 it's a chicken & egg situation.. those cars shaking slowly in lane one actually does it in lane 2 but currently, lane 2 have those heavy vehicles shaking even slowly.. actually, I try to drive on the left most lane coz it's actually faster and less of a car.. if need be, then I cut to lane 2 or right most lane to over take some jokers that is crawling then squeeze back.. talk to me about bad driving, anyone? Sony 1st Gear October 14, 2008 Share October 14, 2008 nothing wrong unless it's slow or hiding in one corner of the car's blind spot.. and does those bikes need to have high beam on? isn't headlight more than enough? at times, you can't blame others for hitting out at bikers coz they, themselves put a target on their back
Joajas Neutral Newbie October 14, 2008 Share October 14, 2008 I hate the kind of biker's that you mentioned. But dear forumers please do not GENERALISE the whole biker population as such. I ride a bike and I ride the same way I drive. I take up whole lane, follow the flow of traffic, signal in advance to change lane, etc. But I still get drivers trying to squeeze me out of my lane. So much for safe and courteous driving.
Nullifi3d 4th Gear October 14, 2008 Share October 14, 2008 i am a frequent traveller on the KPE and it gets me from point A to B rather quickly, at 70 km so long as no one tries to overtake or do anything silly. maybe we can explore that instead. KPE is a joke. Firsly, i've travelled using that route at peak and non-peak hours and its not a populated expressway. Secondly, 70km/h is a speed limit begging for drivers like me to fall asleep and crash and we all end up like a scene from the 1997 movie Daylight starring Stallone. Thirdly, the speed cameras are there to reinforce the joke-of-the-century speed limit; its like a double edged sword wasting tax payers money. And please stop preaching safety blah blah blah just because its the Universe's longest tunnel. Its still a joke.
Sony 1st Gear October 14, 2008 Share October 14, 2008 while I also don't advocate generalisation but then, it's happening all the time.. and based on what you mentioned in your last sentence, cars trying to squeeze u out coz they are moving faster than you are.. Fortress Clutched October 14, 2008 Share October 14, 2008 You are absolutely right. With the kind of heavy traffic in Singapore today.....it might not matter...
Pisces69 6th Gear October 14, 2008 Share October 14, 2008 I do believe that the speed limit is a little slow when it's non peak, a variable speed limit would be nice, education for the driver, Thinks that there are lots of Taxi Driver that tops that damn list, they should go for refresher every year. Some of them don't give way when you're trying to filter and actually accelerate to prevent you from filtering. They stop abruptly to pick up passenger without signalling, etc. ================= I usually travel >90kmh on e'ways when not much traffic. Sometimes 110kmh & sometimes even more. So far never been stopped. I only slow down when approaching speed-cams. The thing I cant stand is those TP wannabes who use their vehicles to block pple by travelling at 90kmh & sticking to lane 1 & refusing to give way to faster moving vehicles. These r the real road hazards who cause pple to overtake on the left which is more dangerous than driving fast. Driving fast is not so much a problem if u can handle your vehicle at that speed. Some pple even have difficulty handling their vehicles at 70kmh on the e'ways. These pple sud stick to the left most lane as far as possible.
Pisces69 6th Gear October 14, 2008 Share October 14, 2008 "Some of them don't give way when you're trying to filter and actually accelerate to prevent you from filtering." We can argue this statement until the cow come home. Sometime, I happen to give way for car to filter in. You know what happen next? They make u to slow down your speed as they filter in like a turtle and drive slower than my existing speed after that. In the end, they manage to cross the traffic light but for us who give way have to wait for the next traffic light to move on. Also, some drivers who want to filter simply filter straight away. They don't even bother to let a few car passby them 1st before filtering in. It is like the road belong to them as I have to jam brake to reduce my speed inorder not the knock again his tail. ========================= Ah the joys of driving on SG roads. Many of these drivers sud stick to public transport.
Pisces69 6th Gear October 14, 2008 Share October 14, 2008 Yes, it should be increased together with better road manners and habitsPeak hour traffic in expressway is a pain these days with so many accidents happening. Average can see at least 3 in a week Furthermore, why does everyone slow down when the accident happens on the other side of the express way causing jams on both sides? ================ Trying to strike 4D? Pisces69 6th Gear October 14, 2008 Share October 14, 2008 50-60kmh...keep on left most lane..period..no argument.. vans with 70kmh limit..keep leftmost lane unless overtaking.. ==================== I wonder if the increasing of goods vehicles to 70kmh was such a good idea? I now regularly see them on lane 2 of the e'ways & also sometimes on lane 1. They r a real pain in the @ss by blocking other faster moving vehicles & causing the whole e'way to slow down. Joajas Neutral Newbie October 14, 2008 Share October 14, 2008 No not moving faster then I am. But rather trying to cut queue in slow moving traffic when cars behind don't let them in. Usually they will just stick their car in near my front wheel forcing me to evade sideways to the right. This happens nearly every time I am on PIE during the evening heavy traffic. ↡ Advertisement
