Audi TTS

just a question [:)] what made you to part with your s2000 and go for the TTS?

IMO i find it a pity cuz for me, i would feel that the S2000 is better. and the price you paid for it is good compared to a TTS.

if we were to look at the cars in the market now, the japanese performance cars are getting better in terms of both quality and performance.

although still lose out on built quality and badge appeal, is it worth forking out more money to get something which is equivalent, or sometimes even less performance than their japanese rivals?

i do not think the S2K is an equivalent to the TTS. I would rate the TTS's performance higher than the S2K, especially for in-city driving.

quality-wise, it would be unfair to compare the S2K against the TTS. a 100k car simply cannot be compared to a 200k car. case point: the GTR - you can feel it's a 200k car just sitting in one. on the other hand, you immediately know the Evo X or STi is half the GTR's price.

at the end of the day, a lot of of the extra dollars also goes to badge appeal.

so it's always about personal choice and finances. you either like/afford it or you don't.

I get feedback that a boxster has a poor image. Something in the lines of a wussy car [laugh]

Then again, it's the brand to have to show that u're "there". Image vs Performance. You decide [;)]

i'll prefer the cayman to the boxster [thumbsup]

the TT was pretty fast off the lien when i test drove it the other time.

engine note was grunty when u shift the gear to the S mode.

i would consider the ride( if i had the $) purely just for the engine and the technology inside. but the looks doesn't really appeal to me. [:p]

build interior quality is good esp the Alcantara clad seats.

Wait awhile more for the 370z? It'll be out 1st quat 2009.

Heard it'll offer a 7speed auto option(Could be in the same type of box as the gtr).

Performance wise its top of its class (think its ard 337bhp, but easily up to 350+bhp as seen in the 37GT)

Weight is 100kg lighter than the current 350z.

The current 350z is very fast IMO for a stock car, personally drove it for quite sometime already, with say 40hp more and 100kg lighter, it can murder any other car in its class, including the TTS.

But sad to say the Japanese's cars can't really match the Germans in terms of ride quality and comfort.

But still.. the TTS is in another class already. But if performance is what you are looking for, I find it expensive rather to get a 2L turbo coupe even though its an audi. hehz. Its a fast car, but there's alot faster cars around too. Personally, I would just take a normal TT over the TTS as its more value for money, not much slower, but super cool face value.

The drive by wire at Audi TTS is really amazing. The entire car elements are very good given. The safety is maximum. See more about the drive test on topspeed.com

Special Edition Model Celebrates 20 Years Of Audi TT

https://carbuzz.com/news/special-edition-model-celebrates-20-years-of-audi-tt.

The 'TT 20 years' gets unique paint, badges, and interior.

When it was first released way back in 1998, the Audi TT was a showstopper. With styling nearly identical to that of the concept, the sleek coupe featured a Bauhaus-inspired design focused on simplicity and functionality. The TT’s design was a hit, and Audi was hailed for keeping it close to the original lines of the concept.

When it came time for a redesign in 2006, Audi stuck with similar proportions and a smooth design. This evolutionary approach continued with the third generation, which retained the TT’s fastback body and clean design, albeit with the crisper, more angular design language that Audi has been using of late. As the old adage goes, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” and Audi has stuck by this as the TT has evolved over the years.

Now in 2018, Audi is looking to celebrate its design icon’s 20th anniversary with a new special edition. Dubbed the “TT 20 years” edition (very creative, Audi), this trim will be limited to just 999 units, with no word on how they will be allocated by region.

Audi claims that the interior changes are inspired by the TTS Roadster concept study from the 1995 at the Tokyo Motor Show. Nappa leather in Moccasin Brown covers the seats, door panels, and center console tunnel, and this leather color along with the Panuka contrasting stitching recall the original concept’s interior.
