thanks ... lucky car broke at my in-law house so used my in-laws pc to search for dealer's workshop contact ... the battery that went flat is normal type ... but I recall that my battery before this was a maintenance-free type so when last time change I remember telling the mechanic to put same type ... guess I was conned ... I never checked battery for last 1.5 years cos was told it's maintenance free ... this time round called dealer and made sure they put maintenance-free type ... dealer said got 36 months warranty .. so that is a plus for me [:)]

maintenance free batt u dun need top up batt water while the other u need to check tat the batt water is within spec...normally a water type batt last longer than a maintenace free type..maintenance free type got an indicator to show the health of the batt..normally green=healthy...but dun rely too much on tat [sweatdrop]

Haha my car battery also went dead on me today morning... After torturing it for 2yr 3 mths, just before i went to church this morning realised cannot start.

So went over for repairman, came down and change to a maintenance free battery. Forgot to tell them to get me the normal ones cause it lasts longer and cheaper too.

Total bill was $120, $100 for the battery and the $20 transport fee and installation.

Spent 5-10 minutes changing while having a great chat, gained knowledge and understanding of other stuffs.

My car is a Toyota Wish. Now my problem is the acceleration is 'tighter' and the response is quite retarded. [:/][sweatdrop]

well I hope he not smoking me ... anyway it's written on the battery itself 36 months warranty ... and on the receipt ... so if within 36 months go bonkers I will definately claim ... as its from the car dealer workshop itself I'm a bit assured they will honour the warranty ...

Wow good deal for a 36 month warranty. Most drivers also dun maintain their battery, regular charging of your battery will improve the battery lifespan..

Before start: Battery voltage, 12+ is normal.

After start: Alternator voltage, 14+ is normal.

What you got is normal, if the voltage after start goes to 15V, your voltage regulator may be faulty, have a mechanic to check.

Dunno about the voltage...but as a rule of thumb, just change those maintenance-free battery every 2 years. :)

I've gotten enough inconveniences, trying to squeeze every drop of energy from the battery such that it went flat on those days which I needed the car most.
