Kelpie 2nd Gear November 14, 2008 Share November 14, 2008 GERMANY has gone into 'RECESSION' - the most scare word nowadaysI hope to the BMW-3 & C-CLASS will be cheaper next year and sell at approx $100K+- to woo customers from accord/camry 100k? Which model or class are you talking about here? If B N M are going for a song, how much lower are you expecting from Accord/Camry ? Regards,

Schneider79 Clutched November 15, 2008 Share November 15, 2008 The big 3 never wake up like Proton which keeps producing Wira for 20 years. They should had realised the problem when Toyota had fully penetrated their market and became the top seller since 2004. They never change their tactics and still thinking of muscle car muscle car muscle car. The production of Toyota Prius alone basically killed the 3 of them combined in the States. Schneider79 Clutched November 15, 2008 Share November 15, 2008 (edited) GERMANY has gone into 'RECESSION' - the most scare word nowadaysI hope to the BMW-3 & C-CLASS will be cheaper next year and sell at approx $100K+- to woo customers from accord/camry The day when 3 series and C class will come to the $100k mark very soon. All the gahment need to do is to reduce the ARF from today's 100% to about 60-70% only. But the only drawback is everywhere is ERP and pay while you drive. So do you wish for a cheap car or a cheaper maintainence to upkeep the car ? It slaps you left and right on your face right ? Zanter 3rd Gear November 15, 2008 Share November 15, 2008 Owning a car will never be cheap in Sg for the simple reason that land will always be scarce. So its like how much you wanna contribute to the Govt. If ur ego is big then u need to have a premium brand then u will pay more to Govt to show off your ego. If you need a basic car then its not v expensive but still you will need to pay the Govt otherwise if too cheap and clerks earning 2k can buy & maintain a car then our roads will become carparks. Thats the reality of the situation.

Wt_know Supersonic November 21, 2008 Author Share November 21, 2008 (edited) will US bailout the BIG-3 (GM, FORD & CRYSLER)? if not a) millions of jobs will be lost b) detroit will be a dead city c) US economy will sink deeper as the car industry support other industries it will be catastrophic i think it's good to be in the worst situation so that they can start from fresh again gone are the days for MTV to showoff the BLING BLING SUV with 22' rim Edited November 21, 2008 by Wt_know

Not so fast, one of my client talked about Beemer as "Bring More Worry" -- after >2yrs WS repair frequency will raise. Another fnd 3 found the pistons' with burn pitted mark after 2 yrs. When it is new it is "Be My Women", once over 3 yrs become "Bring More Worry". Edited November 21, 2008 by Tanjkp
Gnoikj Neutral Newbie November 21, 2008 Share November 21, 2008 I do not think a bailout will work...papers report that the CEOs fly private jets to beg Congress for funds for a bailout... One senator asked how many of the CEOs downgraded and flew commercial 1st class to DC..no hands went up..2nd question, how many will fly commercial back to their state, again no hands went up...so much for re structuring and streamlining... the request for funds and submission of restructuring plans seem more as a token, and taken for granted gesture..." we are the big 3! If we fall, many jobs loss, bad..." Please, if you had done your work, cut costs when possible, you wouldn't be in this state..look at the Japs...even the Europeans are faring better... Tanjkp Clutched November 21, 2008 Share November 21, 2008 will US bailout the BIG-3 (GM, FORD & CRYSLER)? Like the earlier comments, what can the Big 3 show on how they could survive and turn around in the market ? Beside producing gas guzzlers, their labour costs are higher than any others, their top mgt (the most culprit) drained the companies with high bonuses, awards approved by themselves regardless of co in red or black. Above are the major caused of financial near collapse of them, they need to come with solid resolutions to show case on how the co can save $$ in the coming mths to tied thru the present hardship, need to send proposals on what in is in the line of products that can revive the co market share..... Just simply stuff $$ into their pockets to save them is not the way to go.... it may ended up with another extragavent parties at w/end like AXG
Wt_know Supersonic November 21, 2008 Author Share November 21, 2008 (edited) yeah ... fly private jet to beg for money they could stop by for a 'spa treatment' before flying home too huh Edited November 21, 2008 by Wt_know
Spas Neutral Newbie November 21, 2008 Share November 21, 2008 Let them fail! Let them fail! Cannot man. At least two must stand. Even if one falls, say, GM, that means at least 1,000,000 more jobless. Then suppliers and their suppliers' workers go down too (and from some estimates) that'll add another million jobless. And when suppliers go down the other two, Ford and Chrysler will have trouble too (cos the Detroit Three share a gargantuan value chain), then perhaps another 1,000,000 laid off. That easily brings US jobless up to 10%. That means even more people are gonna be spending less = even more jobless. Which then means export economies LIKE SINGAPORE suffer even more. China, with almost 30-40% of its GDP depending on exports will die too. Europe will die as well for the same reason. Really want them to fall now? Anything bad for the US is bad for everyone. US accounts for a huge portion of world demand. They die, we all die. It'll be another half a century before the US becomes a smaller player in the world economy. In the meantime, let's all wish them well.
Chongster 6th Gear November 21, 2008 Share November 21, 2008 http://money.cnn.com/2008/11/07/news/compa...sion=2008110716 GM, FORD & CHEVROLET, the 3 biggest automaker in US are in deep trouble. What about TOYOTA, HONDA & NISSAN in Japan ? What about BMW & MERC in Germany ? Are all automakers facing huge losses ? Will car going to be cheaper in 2009/2010 never mind the automakers, what on earth is happening with Citibank???
Jerms Clutched November 21, 2008 Share November 21, 2008 huh... suddenly turn to citibank? lol, you mean citigroup isit? well they are hit quite badly by the sub prime crisis and the cracks are showing. tat what i heard while i was clearing tables at newton. Silver_blade Turbocharged November 21, 2008 Share November 21, 2008 I feel for GM and Ford....it's better for their Europe units run the whole co. Take the opportunity during this crisis to restructure the US biz model and factory operations. Start selling the more high-tech, better built, fuel economy, etc...european cars in the US. As for Chrysler...i think they should just concentrate on the money-making Jeep and try to get ride of the rest slowly.
Silver_blade Turbocharged November 21, 2008 Share November 21, 2008 Actually if GM and Ford fail...the effect will be felt globally. All their overseas operations, overseas workers, suppliers, etc...will kenna too. In fact, we have quite a few co.s that supply parts to GM, Ford and Ferrari. ↡ Advertisement
