Sillyme Neutral Newbie December 10, 2008 Share December 10, 2008 I think there won't be any major change right now. I think the big mover will be the GPS-based charging model. ↡ Advertisement
Elfenstar 3rd Gear December 10, 2008 Share December 10, 2008 well said. I think OPC owners or would be buyer are aware of the trade off when they buy the car. Cheaper but restricted hours. If they are not happy, they can don't buy OPC. However, I think if the government can be more flexible in the sense of introducing the half day coupon will be good. I think what is stopping them is not being to enforce it. They already have OPCs not putting coupon or those tear month but not date. Now, if intro have half day, those black sheep will be happier. Thats because TP is damn stupid lor... they should just follow the law to the letter. the OPC coupon needs to be attached to the windscreen on the bottom left section. If its not attached at that place, they should just fine the bugger.
Eugeng Neutral Newbie December 10, 2008 Share December 10, 2008 i think mr goh has got too much soap suds in his head. if he wants more driving hours, he should just pay for it and stop family time as a shield. in any case, if 20 bucks can buy me a whole day of family time, its money well spent! Dont he have more family time staying at home till 3pm on Sat. Also more bed time..
Forrestcat 2nd Gear December 10, 2008 Share December 10, 2008 Off-peak car scheme needs fine-tuning Wed, Dec 10, 2008 The Straits Times MANY things have changed since the introduction of the off-peak car scheme in 1994. These have made it necessary and important to fine-tune the system to cater to today's real needs. For a start, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) should consider lifting the restricted hours on off-peak cars on Saturdays from 7am to 3pm. With an increasing number of companies practising a five-day work week, the restricted hours on Saturdays have essentially become less 'peak' than 14 years ago. For those who drive an off-peak car, removing such restrictions could also mean more family time on a non-working day. This would tie in well with the Government's call for more pro-family efforts by Singaporeans. In addition, the LTA should consider allowing off-peak cars on the road in non-Central Business District, 'off-peak' areas, such as the neighbourhoods, during 'peak' weekday hours. In my view, this will not severely affect smooth traffic flow neither in the neighbourhoods nor on the arterial roads during these hours, when most people are at work. Also, this will give drivers of off-peak cars more freedom to run personal or family errands, as well as spend quality time with their families on days they are not working. Goh Wee Chuan Mr Goh, you should consider a coe car instead

Kelpie 2nd Gear December 10, 2008 Share December 10, 2008 The previous LTA reply was always if tweak the hours ( ie Sat can drive earlier or even no restriction ) then the $17K rebate and the road tax discount will be reduced correspondingly, no mention about the the $20 license though. Yalor, this type of question sure surfaced every now and then and the reply from LTA has always been the one you stated. Waste everyone time. Listing Neutral Newbie December 10, 2008 Share December 10, 2008 OPC not only enjoy 17k rebate. But every year, they get a reduction of $800 in road tax. So even if they tear coupon every sat, it's still cheaper than a normal car.

You can always see them at custom trying their luck too. Regards,
Drive_carcar Clutched December 10, 2008 Share December 10, 2008 OPC also way cheaper insurance. As they are on the roads less, so they are deemed to be lower risk.
