Bro, cannot say like dat. Depends when you seek your approval. When you already received your SAF100, most probably you cannot just 'notify' them and not seek approval. You do need approval.

 

Yup, tat's right. What i meant was if you have not received the SAF100.

Option 2 has always been what I have wanted to do.

 

But the problem is, males in Singapore need to report for reservist.

Can one request for deferment of reservist training citing 1 year-backpacking as the reason?

To leave Singapore for an extended period of time, MINDEF needs to be notified. Will that be approved?

i have an ex-staff, shud be 23yrs or so this year ..... did the above exactly !!

 

but not due to recession or sort, he just decided to go backpack around WORLD.... shud be almost 3 years already now ....he wud stay in a country for a while and find temp work at that country and at the same time explore.

 

i dunno what reason he used, but i thk NSPC shud be able to answer your question/

Took Retrenchment $$,$$$.... in 2004.

1: Used a Excel file to Map out next 5 yrs Income plan 2004 - 2009.

2: Speed up part-time work & earn as likes B4 Full-Time Job.

3: Managed successfully to cut, cut, cut expenditure 2004-2009.

4: 2007...both Kids secured job & contribute $$$.

5: Now working out Semi-Retirement plan 2010-2011 with Photography, Gym-Keep Fit, Travel, Have More Yam-char Friends etc.

6: 2010..hopefully work 3 hours a day x 3 days week to keep Mind Active & Body Healthy.

I Choose to study full time.

When i was working, i gotta rush after work for my part time degree..now no work liao focus 100% study and took more module per

sem instead of the usual 1-2 while studying part time.

Gotta go back camp for RT also no need to see pple's face when leaving early.
