Could be some pet project that you've never had time for....... or more likely Settle for some lower pay, but less stress job that enables you to actively keep searching, while also allowing you to put in efforts into whatever projects that might yield income. Option 2 has always been what I have wanted to do. But the problem is, males in Singapore need to report for reservist. Can one request for deferment of reservist training citing 1 year-backpacking as the reason? To leave Singapore for an extended period of time, MINDEF needs to be notified. Will that be approved? When you already received your SAF100, most probably you cannot just 'notify' them and not seek approval. You do need approval. Want to go overseas, just go. It's not up to them to approve.
