Dwoon 1st Gear March 4, 2009 Share March 4, 2009 Unless there's promo for it at $9.90 like in the past........ else it might not be worth it to. With the oil prices so depressed these days and the economy likewise, I'm looking forward to those price levels in the near future.
Rayoh Neutral Newbie March 4, 2009 Share March 4, 2009 I've heard from a lot of mechanics that these mobile one oil (1 quart bot) not suitable to be used in Singapore weather. My personal experience, I've bought and used on my previous corolla G9. Geezzz... the engine "eating" up the M1 oils all the time. Got to top it up regularly. Then Switch to castr0l oils, doing much better since. Any other users can verify? Now, upon seeing these 10W30 1 quart bot, i siam far far...
Dwoon 1st Gear March 4, 2009 Share March 4, 2009 Yup..... I use 5W-50W also will get oil consumed. Average of about 0.5 quart for 10K km OCI. (Use 40 wt lagi worse but 15W-50 consumption seems very much less) If wacking on NSHWY, it'll be about another 0.5 quart more. But even I use other oils, also kena consumed, maybe lesser. Think it depends on the engine type. (I know of people whose car don't consume oil at all..... for whatever they put in.... Mobil1, craplube, amsoil, etc.)
Solar Turbocharged March 4, 2009 Share March 4, 2009 i've heard rotary engines consume oil..i'm curious.. what's the car are you driving?
Dwoon 1st Gear March 4, 2009 Share March 4, 2009 (edited) Subaloo boxer engine I've also heard that rotary engines consumes even more.... like 1 quart per 2K km. Dunno if its true. The strange thing is that, I've had the oil catch tank for like 4 years and even recently when I asked the mech to check, there's hardly any oil inside. I wonder where did the oil go to. America also have summer what, their summer temperature even hotter than in Singapore, can reached 40-47'c even, here max 35'c is nothing.
Dwoon 1st Gear March 4, 2009 Share March 4, 2009 I somehow suspect its the humidity levels that affects. Like diluting the oil with moisture, then when oil is really heated up due to longer drives/wacking, it creates more blow-by and driving the moisture out......together with the oil..... Just some wild guess What do you think???
Trex101 3rd Gear March 4, 2009 Share March 4, 2009 (edited) Nope, it got nothing to do with moisture as most moisture will be evaporated once the engine heat up to operating temperature. No manufacturer will manufacture their products into certain region, that why they produce multi-viscosity engine oil(example 0w40) for wide spread use. If you need some dedicated oil for tropic, then maybe pure synthetic 40wt would be it as we don't really need the cold flow as much. Ahbengdriver 6th Gear March 5, 2009 Share March 5, 2009 whats the diff between the normal Mobil one 0w-30 and the 5w-30 Ext Perf ? I read the application on Mx#####g. Seems to be similar. For example, both useable for SC and TC engines. Unless OCI is 1 year, I really dont see any diff.
Furrynadz 5th Gear March 5, 2009 Share March 5, 2009 think the specs changed slightly afaik the 30wt EP meets A3 while the 30wt A1 only its thicker a little and more additive package ↡ Advertisement
