My friend was also quoted $1k above paper value for his 3 yr old Getz. Then he bargained and got $2k.

And finally sold off at $4.5k to another dealer.

Thats right. The body value is around there.

Nowadays body value is almost zilch.

A 3 yr old cefiro 2.3 V6 can only command a body value of 5K +/- if you sell it to the dealers.

Heard the Mits advert this morning... if don't want your car to cost peanuts... go and trade it for a new Mits...

the signs are coming.. AD lowering their profit by giving higher overtrade for the old car... that is for those dealers that have not been selling well this last few weeks/months..

any brand will have bad paper value... so much so talking about resale value few years back if buying certain brands...

wonder if those brands still uses the same tactics...

To me loyalty discounts fared much better than the body value being offered for my conti cars [smash]

why nowadays body value so poor? or is it because its a korean car?

Conti car or korean car, will fetch roughly the same body value when selling. If Jap, probably another 2-3K more nia...

The above estimation is based on bread & butter models that cost roughly the same when bought new.

that's the same as zero body value but give you $500 loyalty discount for sticking to Korean [gorgeous]

The resale market is slowly down. The amt dealer taking in the car is lower as they are assuming they will only be able to sell the car away after some time.

When the market is good, used car are selling at very fast pace but for now, its really no good.

Its really like you are buying cheaper cars but also selling your cars cheaper.
