Jchuacl Clutched April 4, 2009 Share April 4, 2009 Search for GNU Testdisk. Typically format does not wipe out data but only initalise the directory area, so no problems. To side track, it's a common mistake most people make to think that format will wipe out data. That's why there are tools (such as eraser) to wipe out data cleanly. To side track, it's a common mistake most people make to think that format will wipe out data. That's why there are tools (such as eraser) to wipe out data cleanly. but eraser shdn't be used that frequently unless one wants to kill the memory card or thumbdrive.. it basically write and rewrite the space over and over again, depending on the number of pass used. anyway, use it only when there's edison-like photos/video in there..
