the old sorento belongs to the previous generation of Kias, same as carens II, rio 05 etc

that generation of kias were indeed fuel guzzlers.

but this new and current generation of kias like the rio 07, carens elite, and forte has engines which are capable for fuel economy.

anyway,

in that same category of 7 seater SUVs,

Volvo XC 90,

toyota fortuner,

hyundai santa fe,

chevrolet captiva,

they'r all fuel guzzlers with FC of 7km/litre typically.

i don't imagine that sorento will be much worse than that.

Any bigger image? This one is too small to see the details.

You can click on the heading "Sorento" to see more pictures.

Indeed, the interior of the car is very nice and close to continental standards, exterior of the car is so much better looking than the current Sorento. Good job for Kia! [thumbsup]

With the current uncertain economic climate, i am not sure how positive automakers can be at SUV sales as of now other than BMW for their X5s and X3s. I personally have seen many SUVs disappear from my carpark. Apparently these SUVS bought on high COEs have been cashed in exchange for new saloons or HBs with much more reasonable FCs.

I would definitely consider getting the Sorento if C&C brings it in this configuration:

2WD with 2.4L engine, 6 Speed auto

8 or 10 speaker JBL sound system

Keyless entry and start

Factory fitted leather

Cruise control

Panorama sunroof

Factory fitted Bluetooth hands free system

Power folding mirrors

18 inch rims

HID headlights

Interior ambient lighting

Dual or 3 zone automatic climate control

Interior wood trim

Leather/wood trimmed steering wheel

With all these features and priced under $80,000, it will definitely be a hit!

Pics are small but it does look very handsome. should be at a good price too since its a kia. Never was an SUV fan, but i can understand this car's appeal. The split center armrest is....very 7-series lol

yes ultimately its still a Kia.

look beyond the brand and the car might just surpass ur expectation with its modest pricetag.

I think I might be willing to pay below $90,000 for those features, after all it is around the same price as the Chevrolet Captiva, Honda CR-V, Mitsubishi Outlander, Nissan Qashqai, Renault Koleos, Toyota Fortuner and Toyota RAV4! [bounce1]

I guess that we have to really look beyond the brand because honestly the Koreans are doing a fantastic job, just look at the Hyundai Genesis and Equus. The perception of Korean makes in Singapore is very poor because Hyundai is selling stripped down cars at a really low price when in fact, Hyundais can be comparable to Japanese cars if they are loaded with features but fortunately, Kia Singapore is trying hard to change that typical Singaporean perception since late last year by bringing in feature loaded cars with reasonable price tags like the Carens Elite, Magentis Innovation and Cerato Forte.

The diesel should be the one to get, esp with such fuel guzzlers. Savings from running cost may offset diesel tax?

The savings from running costs may offset diesel tax unless you drive a lot, but if you are an average user like 20,000km/year, the petrol version is cheaper overall.
