Dgeralds 1st Gear April 12, 2009 Share April 12, 2009 Im planning to buy a Garmin 255W GPS and fix it semi-permanantly on dash board or other suitable position. Semi-permanently means a wire is run internally behind dashboard from battery to GPS but at the same time I should be able to unplug at the GPS (hardware) end. I dont want to have wire clutters and at the same time i should be able to remove GPS when i go overseas. Could such an arrangement be done? Have anybody done such installation before & what is your ride? Any recommended workshop that could do such installation & how much it would cost? Thk you. ↡ Advertisement
Fcw75 Hypersonic April 12, 2009 Share April 12, 2009 Most accessories shop can do it. But I know for sure Pin Liang can do it since they oso sell Garmin. The price won't be cheap though compared to other shops. I have seen VW cars doing that.

In this way all the cable is hiden. any audio shop can do..est about 40-50 bux.
Voodooman Supersonic April 12, 2009 Share April 12, 2009 I did it for SGD 25, it is useful and neat. Only problem is you can't charge the set when using the GPS on another car. You can however buy another "cable", which costs around SGD 40-50 a piece.
Galileo Neutral Newbie April 12, 2009 Share April 12, 2009 I have done mine for $20 at the accessories shop at Serangoon Garden. The shop is just beside Starbuck or Coffee Bean shop. I know a shop in Sutera, JB does it for only RM10. I got my Kenwood DNX7100 with reverse camera installed for only RM85 there, whereas it will cost S$60~100 here.
