hi,

OT a bit, is it a must to align wheels after changing wheel bearings?

In theory, no. Change brake pads, brake discs, all also no need. But if you remove your lower control arm, then yes.

KYB is a brand and not a shop.

The above place can carry out the installation.

What Pisces is saying is that the prices charged by the shop can be quite steep at times (in his and my opinions).

hi guys... juz bought a 2nd hand Fit mileage 49k. recently can hear creaking sound from rear when alight from vehicle... autobacs told me rear suspension oil leaking n needa change.. quoted me $900+ for original (rear pair only)!!! also quoted me the gas type suspension for $1200!! obviously i'm not gonna buy from them but is there any place to recommend?? hydraulic or gas??

autobacs also offering for trade in of sports rim for $458... is it reasonable?? cos e rims were pretty scratched when i got them... so thinking of changing them also...

many thanks!!

Creaking sounds is very common even for brand new cars. It may not be leak. Don't be ripped off by these people. But, 50K mileage it's about time the stock shocks get retired.

KYB is e brand name. KAYABA. Ty r oem for most jap cars n also korean.

E shops only sell n u get yr mech to install. Usually abt $25 each.

Price of shocks depends on car model n if u get gas or oil.

S$900 for shock absorbers? :o :o My nissan sunny is almost 5 years old at 135000km and i just changed the shock absorbers for the front. Bought Tokiko at S$65-00 per pc from Waterloo st. Went to JB workshop for labour to change it. I am happy with the ride now and the Tokiko feels comfy enough. Braking much much better and grip on the road feels better too. Less noise as well and the car remains even around corners. The JB workshop advised to change the stopper or dampener / dust cover which I saw was torn and broken at the base. They charged $10 each for the dust cover/dampener.

Anyone knows what shocks is the 2006 Toyota Vios using? My car is closed to 100k km and my passenger complains that my ride is very bumpy and guess it's time to replace the shocks.

Anyone knows the price as well and any workshop to recommend to replace? I dont wanna change to coilover as I am leaning towards comfort rather than performance.

I never do car in jb cos i find e quality of parts n workmanship very poor compared to a good ws here wh good quality guenine jap parts. ty can also b very dishonest, especially wh sg cars cos ty feel sg pple all rich n stupid.

sometimes ty give u imitation parts which look very genuine. only after u use than can tell quality is not good.

this is 1 area i prefer to pay a little more for peace of mind.

not the experience i have had in JB - i have found the workmanship and parts quality in JB to be as good as in Singapore. Prices are much lower, and waiting time shorter. Service is much better as is attitude. Straight forward. And safe too. Have been to 4 different workshops in JB and have had positive experiences with all. I currently stick with one particular workshop as the owner is very familiar with Nissan cars.

Have done replacement for shock absorbers, replacement of tyres, wheel allingment, air con filter change, and several oil changes in JB without any hassle or problems.

And saved quite a bit of $$$ too :))

Apart from that, the car wash + vacume is just RM$8-00 and really good, better than most car wash in Singapore !!!

6 months on and my shock absorbers are doing fine and the ride is smooth. Braking is good and the car stable.

Sorry but I have tried several ws in JB. Some I go myself n some recommended by frens.

So far all I can see is low quality parts n questionable workmanship.

I hv yet to find a decent ws in JB with good prices. So far all the parts ty offer me were of some unheard of brands or "original" which later found to b suspected imitation parts.

I check around n those "original" parts n oils etc r always more ex than what I can get in SG n here I am sure it is genuine. Even their labour ty quote is cheap at 1st, but when ty give u the bill, always got add this n add that so in the end is not cheap.

I think the moment ty see a SG plate car, their prices change from RM to S$.

Only their RM8 car wash I wil use. Even their polish n wax service(I tried a few) I found I can get much better in SG fr similar prices.

I recently wanted to try to get my shocks changed in jb. The original there is about the same as here n their so called OEM is an unheard of brand which nobody here can cfm with me is OEM. Maybe their OEM is from dunno where. [laugh]

Even their labour charges is about same as what I wud pay here.

When I asked the mech how come yr prices about same as SG, he said now is like that. [laugh]

So far only their 4 wheel computerised alignment is cheaper. Some even quote RM20 n normal is abt RM35-40. But I hv still not tried how good it really is so cannot comment on the quality.
