Yuan 6th Gear May 26, 2009 Share May 26, 2009 What is the latest price of coilover? Brand? Which better? Where to install? What is your expectation? Firmer suspension? Handling? Stability? There are a couple of known brands as what the other bros have suggested. It would be good if you make known the type of car you are driving.

Shull Turbocharged June 11, 2009 Share June 11, 2009 paiseh..hijack thread since it's the same topic.. would like some advise on the following: My CIvic ES's shock absorber has went up lorry, so i'm thinking of changing the absorber only.. after enquiring at Stamford tyres, they quoted near 1.2k for 4 absorber plus installation.. the staff there then tells me that 1.2k is damn expensive and recommend me to go online forum and source for 2nd hand coils since my car left about 4 yrs to scrap.. So, i wanna find out what's (1)the 'normal' price to change 4pcs of shock absorber for Civic ES. (2)If i'm looking to change to a set of comfort coilovers, how much damage i am looking at? Thanks

Thanks coilovers for comfort, er... its like asking for non-spicy chilli. there are such things, but you might as well not spend that kinda cash. stock shocks (<-- try saying that repeatedly aloud and fast) and springs should do fine. they can be found online for very cheap prices. anywhere between $25 for used springs to less than $300 for shocks and springs that were remove from a brand new stock car. aftermarket can range from $200 to $2k (i know some of you are selling your suspension system so i do not dare undercut you guys even though i have seen alot cheaper sets before) installation shouldnt be more than $50? (im spoilt by my regular workshop so im not too sure about labour anymore)
Nerdyfrog Neutral Newbie June 11, 2009 Share June 11, 2009 i just converted to coils after 5 yrs on my lowered springs. My shocks were almost gone (1 side leaking, the other sqeaky as hell.) Original shocks and springs cost more than aftermarket coils, so i change my coils for 1180 (include camber nuts and balance).

Unless the shock absorber is aftermarket ones but even if it is aftermarket ones, the price is still too steep Rather spend the 1.2K on a set of BC coilover

BC got 2 types. One with the camber kit (BC BR Series) and the other without the kit. If you don't go to track often, then just get the basic coils will do. Like you, I would go for a set of coils or improved sports shocks with stock springs. Those might be cheaper.

Thanks They are no comfort coils. If you intend to get BC, then the stiffness can be adjusted. Invest in a good set of coils if you have some moolah to spare. That should set you for the next 4 years. Suspension plays a part in your car's performance. ↡ Advertisement
