Twofouronenite 1st Gear May 10, 2009 Share May 10, 2009 pls imagine a black like ink stain on ur favourite towel n u get e pix I've a red shirt with cream color collar, red stain on the collar every time I wash it and it got worst. End up I use hot water to pour on the red stain and it became lesser. Do check ur label on the towel to see if it can be hot wash? Another method to prevent the dye stain is soak the clothing in water with a capfull of vinegar. But this dun seem to work all the time, maybe have to be the 1st time you do the washing? Ah_tee 2nd Gear May 10, 2009 Share May 10, 2009 any laundry gurus out there...........? my towels tends to ve black stains on them aft wash but not on clothes. Why like tat??? it may not be due to washing it may due to the towel being in moisture for pro long period of time to erncourage the growth if u remember when we are young, mom always tell us to spread the towel evenly on the hanger so that it can dry, my bad habit is i like i like hang it on the door knob of moi bedroom which the towel doesnt dry well. Snowbell Neutral Newbie May 10, 2009 Share May 10, 2009 Ya our white bath towels at home always turn black. Unless everytime after bathe hang out to sun to dry. Coz we always dry it indoors, and if dry in bathroom altho spread out on the towel hanger also useless coz of the moisture.
Qooo Neutral Newbie May 10, 2009 Share May 10, 2009 I believe it's fungus. Because we use towels and leave it there for days and then wash. The germs from our skin grows on the towels in our humid climate. Suggestion: Use small towels for face and hands. Change new ones and wash everyday. For bath towels, it should be less likely to turn black as you should be clean after a bath... unless ....

Application9999 Clutched May 11, 2009 Share May 11, 2009 yes..those are mould...i had that problem too sometime back and realised that it was due to the fact that i like to damp wet towel into the laundry bag and leave it for couple of days...it dry up by the time i wash it but the mould had growth...Now i dried it first and the problem was resolved. Kopi_peng Neutral Newbie May 11, 2009 Share May 11, 2009 bleach doesn't help much. iirc, this mould/mildew kinda eats into the towel. if u examine closely, the cotton actually disintegrating at black spots. it's the same stuff u find at silicon grouting at the basin/sink. tough to get rid. for me, if the towel is badly affected, I'll dump it....for hygiene purpose. towel are quite cheap these days. but prevention is the best...ie, try to hang the towel to dry after use and not re-use it for too many days!! ↡ Advertisement
