The mother already went up to the cashier wanting to pay for the toothbrush, what does the supervisor wants? It was not as if the mother and daughter went off without paying at all and the supervisor had to call them in.

 

I guess the supervisor just wants to show off to his colleagues during tea-time "Hey, I caught someone who was trying to steal just now!"

This is one side of the story only. You'd be surprised how it may differ from reality. Of course, I'm not saying that the NTUC staff is totally in the right, but you can be sure she would have her version of what transpired. Note also that it is not the wife that wrote the letter, it's the husband who wasn't at the scene. He was therefore not a witness and is only relating hearsay information.

 

The truth is usually somewhere in between both sides of the story.

i think he handled the case very professionally by asking the lady to go to the room to avoid embarressment. And the record of identity particulars is to ensure no more similar incident from her.
