talking bout Shell, the Shell station on front of my place suddenly close for "renovation", coming home late one night, tank almost empty so planning to top up, then suprise the station all sealed up already. next day, drove out to nearby Shell station, bloody hell also all sealed up and close for renovation?! [confused] what's up man, one shot shut down all their outlets near my place... in the end pump SPC which was next nearest.

Yah, they seem to renovate quite alot of outlets at one go, re-branding excercise perhaps. Luckily, there's one along Queensway as the C'wealth one is closed. btw, they gave $2 voucher for pumping at nearby outlets.

I think they are converting the 92 tank into 95/98/V power. Cos they said that Shell's 92 will die end of this month. Anyway, if not for my company got special rate with shell, i would not be so heartbroken over a company who removes the heartlander's 92. I would hav gone for Caltex instead. [drivingcar]

From my knowledge yes. Each tank for each type of fuel. But there are some theories that suggest there are only one tank for 92 and one tank for 98. 95 is a mixture of both which i think is.........

wah, pls share why there's a need for different tank and how does the construction differ?

The different octane number is due to the different ratios of hydrocarbon. For example, a 92 petrol possesses the same anti-knock rating as a mixture of 92% (by volume) iso-octane and 13% (by volume) n-heptane. So no matter what, there has to be different tanks containing this different octane of fuels(92, 95, 98).

Read from the news also that the Shell spokesman said they want to remove 92 so as to free up space for the more widely used fuels like 95 and 98. So i strongly believe that there are different tanks for different fuels. If its really jus mixing of fuels, they wouldnt bother to free up space.

Neutral Newbie

Yes. With recent V-power offer at 98 price, I got some mild pinging driving during hot day with a tank full of this "best Shell formula".

No more V-power for me even during F1 season because only Caltex Platinum is genuinely Oct 98.

I pump Caltex Platinum, premium fuel at RON98 price. [flowerface]

Engine smooth as silk thereafter [thumbsup]

For high compression engine, beware cos there are cases of engine experiencing knocking.

Better off with RON98 for those cars. [drivingcar]

Noticed that when i pump Vpower, i get lower mileage compared to 98 [sweatdrop]

i feel msia and sg's vpower all very high FC. at least for my car lah.. so i refrain from them, moreover they are so overprice..
