In which circumstances do we need to react to this act?

Is it possible that someone nominated another person as his/her agent without his/her consent?

 

And seriously...what the hell is this act anyway??

what the sudden interest?this act is to govern property tax payments,hence Property Tax Act.so cannot escape paying property tax,similar to Income Tax Act.

Not anyone can nominate anyone as agent,only the Comptroller.And that person so nominated will be notified.

The "agent" mentioned in this section of the Act is not referring to property agent. It normally refers to banks.

 

If Ah Beng fail to pay property tax, the Comptroller may appoint the bank which Ah Beng maintains a bank account, to deduct from that bank account the amt of property tax due. The bank thus becomes an "Agent" of the Comptroller.

 

This is quite a common practice if owe IRAS $.
