Dear all,

I just chat with another friend in MCF and he told me that Windows 7 doesn't take up as much resources as Windows XP or Windows Vista.

Anybody can confirm this?

Anybody here using the RC version already?

Please post feedback.

Thanks.

I have lotsa friends on Window 7 Beta and yes, they are using it for work. So far haven't heard a single complaint about hardware driver issues or resources problems and most of them are running window 7 on a netbook.

We just finished a heated discussion about Windows 7, OSX, and Linix recently.

Its basically a "de-bloated" version of Vista, so it runs quicker and can be used on hardware which is below Vista's min requirements (e.g. Netbooks).

My friend just told me that Windows 7 must be upgraded from Vista .... cannot fresh install ... is that true?

I'm on the RC build 7100.

yup it runs as fast as XP even with all the visuals turned on, no crashes so far, 1st boot with all drivers in already.

looks like microsoft may have done something right.

Actually Microsoft recommends you do a fresh install for W7. You can't do a proper upgrade from vista to 7 or worse still from XP to 7

Actually all my upgrades have ended in BSOD or CMI. From Win2k to XP to watever..

I always do fresh install, faster and no complications. Too much trouble to do upgrades..

No lah. Not true. They're even planning an "upgrade pack" (read as: cheaper) for XP users, but its essentially a fresh install.

I agree. I'm using my Win7 32-bit RC as a HTPC, utilizing the Media Center functions. A very happy camper here.
