starlets are way way better... no offence...

in what way? They dont have all round indepedent suspension...only way to go fast is to go illegal [lipsrsealed] cos most starlets come with 1E or 2E engines....only factor i can think of is lightweightnenss [thumbsup] something which many cars in this day dosent have....Old school is still the best la.... [thumbsup] and the biggest seling point of the starlet is the ease of parts...something which my GTI dosent have.... [thumbsdown]

Turbocharged

EFI = Electronic Fuel Injection

It's technological advancement/replacement from carburators.....not sure what's the difference but was told it controls fuel reulation more effectively thus better power to fuel ratio.

check out here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuel_injection

I think at this age, all cars in the market (including QQ) are EFI already.

During those times where you really see the advancement in engine technology. Cars equipped from SOHC to DOHC, from 8 valves to 12 valves then to 16 valves, from carb to EFI, then comes VTEC, VVT and equivalent technology(late 90s liao)

You have to live in those times to truly appreciate how far car tech has come along...

Turbocharged

EFI-E i forget..F:fuel,I:injection

GTTI-got two turbo inside

GTI-got turbo inside

hehe

Haha Dun mislead.....you'll be surprise alot of people tot Swift GTI has a turbo in stock form......it's NA Power!

Before the EGs EKs, Swift GTI is one of the King of NA. dun think there's any 1.3 engine at time that's produces 101Bhp, high reving @ 8000RPM with a 750kg body...coupled with close gear-ratios.

0-100 @ 8sec! (of course after that out of puff liao) With a whooping power to weight ratio of 135bhp/tonne, really put the current Swift Sport to shame!

Ok I just dig out my old car magezine (Car & Life) Dated May 1990

A brand new Charade GTTI is selling @ $60,473 (ARF), a brand new Swift GTI is at $55,610(ARF)

Think COE was first introduced on May 1990 and 1st bidding is $1K.

The Spec qouted in the Magazine

Daihatsu Charade GTTi

993cc, 101Bhp, 130nm, Max Speed 185km/h, 0-100km/h in 8.2 secs

Suzuki Swift GTI

1298cc, 100Bhp, 113nm, Max Speed 182km/h, 0-100km/h in 8.6 secs

These two are pocket rockets during that time, I've check the rest of the normal cars, most of their century sprints are between 11 to 13 secs

GTTi was selling at $60k in 1990. During that time, a new 4A-flat at CCK was selling at ~$80k.

Wow...could almost bought a flat then.
