in current car market, no doubt auto cars have an overwhelming market rate over manual cars, and manual cars seems nearly extinct liao

and Class 3A has high pass rate and less lessons, so get a Class 3A lisence might be cheaper $1k than class 3 in average

if you'ar fresh new learner, Class3 or Class3A

Manual cars, YOU control the car as a driver. (: So, i think, I would still go for manual.

Anyone for that matter can sit in the drivers seat and press accelerator and go. But not many drivers adn drive a manual properly. For that, i salute (:

Depends on how much the difference in cost between the 2.. Many ppl, typical girls or housewives will never have the chance or need to drive a lorry or van, so a manual license is largely useless.... So if you can save up to 1k, y not?

 

Even if you want to get a taxi license as a spare job in cases of recession, Taxis are in auto these days as well (not sure if taxi company accept 3A license though)...

I used to be scared of manual cos i only knew how to drive auto cars and stuff.

First driving lesson

Wallah. Uncle taught me how to clutch in and out, and catch the biting point.

I thought my car would jerk and die cos i release too early.

But in the end, Only stalled twice.

Now, shifting of gears is damn smooth!

The 3A is a god-send for many people, especially those who consider the car simply as tool to get around. The handicapped especially, benefit from this. But these cars are so ridiculously easy to operate, and drivers are cacooned comfortably in air-conditioned and insulated cabins. They tend to become disconnected with the car and the road. They take for granted that everything can be overcome through the push of a button, the turning of the wheel, blaring of a horn. Inconsiderate and dangerous examples we see daily on our roads.

 

To drive a manual car, one has to understand some basic mechanic concepts of power, speed and gear ratios. How they interact when moving the vehicle. For a lot of people, this may be a bit of an obstacle, but our parent's generation and before never complained. You will learn to respect the limits of the vehicle, and naturally the road and other hazards along the way. For those who have a choice of 3 over 3A ( I never had.), you have my admiration. Learn well, and stay safe.

Seems difficult at first but once got the technique it's fun, transmission can be very smooth if controlled well. But some people drive manual for few years still can't control clutch and accelerator well. Take and throw there, never know when going to need it. $1000 for a lifetime is not expensive at all.

 

I take it as learning how to cycle, may fall down during learning but after getting technique right, it's never a problem anymore and can be fun!

 

I switch from manual to auto because dad is getting old, can't drive manual smoothly. I only miss manual for the fun in malaysia but not here. Especially when there is a jam, manual is a pain. Left foot feels numb when jam is over an hour (causeway).

Since one has to go through the learning phase, might as well learn it once and for all. Take Class 3.

 

If a class 3A holder needs to drive a manual car, he needs to re-learn again. No point.

yea, im voting for class 3 too, unless u can totally rule out the need to drive manual cars in your future line of work or for watever purpose.

Wifey last time also wanna take 3A. I just bring her to driving centre and enroll for her class 3. kpkb everyday after lesson. Now thanking me cause she drive auto car will fell aslp. Step and go, brake and stop. enjoyment of being in control is different la. Just complaining now is she gotta take out her heels to drive.

Lets just say that me and my good friend will NEVER marry someone without a class 3 license. we swear to own and drive manual cars till our left legs drop off. =)
