Difference between replica and original bodykits?

Hi any bros know whats the diff between original and replica?

 

Probably material ? So whats the ideal material for a bodykit?

 

I've checked with this shop.. Replica and original difference about 3k. The original one is quite branded.

So i asked the owner, whats the diff btw the replica and the ori. Guess what he told me.

 

Price different. Thats all he said. I was like =.= ?

 

Think he tryin to smoke me.

 

So guys the price diff is the material or just the brand?

It depends on what u want. Each have their pros and con.

 

Fiber Glass, Cheap easy to style but breaks easily.

 

Polyurethane, Very flexible for good fitment but very difficult to repair and heavy.

 

Carbon Fiber, Best in appearance, expensive cannot repair

 

FRP composite, good and rigid need more preparation need

 

ABS plastic, good fitment and durable but cannot be repair

It depends on the brand as well leh... Your question is as if every original brand comes from the same supplier?? How to answer you sia...

Fibreglass and carbon fibre are actually part of FRP.

You can quite easily spot replicas. They don't fit as well, and from 2nd moulding, usually the FRP surface will be wavy.

 

Original bodykit also tends to be more lasting.

Can be either of de 5. U have 2 ask de supplier. Now u have some guide wat's wat. U have 2b careful on drilling of bodywork, which might void warranty. Or if u dekit, u have holes.

mine is original honda modulo bodykit ABS material. very light

In SG not worth getting original in SG. full of inconsiderate drivers. 1 bang only your fitment is going to hell even if you repair.

I just buy replica

1.2k for original not sprayed.

400 for replica sprayed.

i can crash 3 of the replicas or change style every year for 3 years.

I totally agree with this. Anyway, it takes someone with a certain amount of knowledge to identify an original & most are not really well-versed with these sort of things.

Better off to buy a fakie but just ensure it's of reasonable quality and aesthetically pleasing.

 

But if you've alot of money to spend and drive a fairly expensive car, have some pride and get original. Haha.

Original usually less wavy on the surface, some lighter then replicas and some also more flexible (in case you scrape).

Most importantly, better fitment compared to reps, but again, not all originals, depending on brand.

I will never fix replica bodykit ever again...

 

Did before and have problem with fitment, uneven surface and worst of all the paint chip off easily leaving the front bumper ugly. Above are the problem i had in my previous car done at a reputable workshop.... Replica bodykit are also not flexible and crack easily... The so call PU fibre is crap. Paint chip off easily and i really doubt the replica bumper can absorb the same kind of impact than an original bumper can withstand.

 

Now i rather spend more to get original... or i rather stay stock than install replica bodykit.
