Was using ows but now switched to elf.... found ows to be too thin... great for initial 3k~5k but after that the engine oil level kept dipping... elf seems to last me longer....

I love elf, but its wayyyy to exp in sg....

mine seems to last quite well until around 5k mileage . anyway for our turbo charged vehicles its advised to have oil change intervals at 5k mileage , not?

I hit about 400km in a week so if I were to change oil every 5k, it will mean I got to visit the workshop every 3.5mths.... which i feel is too excessive lah because I usually just do normal city drving only and hardly go full throttle these days (old already so balls also smaller).

I usually do it every 10k or 6mths (whichever comes earlier)....

Nothing is really cheap over here is SG. Only consolation is that at least it's not as expensive as this Speedmaster Oil.... [:p]

i'm sharing my experience as i recently change to using 5w30 Speed Master engine oil. and it really make a much better improvement comparing my normal 5w30 Royal Purple engine oil.

i am at my usual JB workshop to my car servicing since changing to Honda Fit. am actually thinking of getting a cheap 5w30 engine oil when the boss whom i know recommend me Speed Master engine oil. i am actually sceptical about using it as i have never heard about it before and somemore selling at RM245 (expensive considering in malaysia). but the boss telling me it is a very good engine oil. if no good, he will refund the money back to me. knowing him for sometimes and helping him advertise his Ultra-Racing bars, i believe he is not out there to cheat me.

so i listen to him and change to 5w30. and he even gives me discount to RM200 (engine oil + oil filter + labour). i read in mycarforum, one workshop at northern site selling $150 for 4L of engine oil. so after reading it, i find it pretty reasonable price as after deducting everything and converting to SG dollars, the engine oil cost me around $60+ only.

after driving it for the first time, i really find my engine noise more quieter, more smoother, more lighter and more responsive than my usual 5w30 Royal Purple engine oil (i believe some of u knows i have been using this oil for sometime). i can't commend of FC as i just change it only. on my Honda Fit, i can really feel an improvement on the mid-end level. pickup is exceptionally smooth. i can't feel improvement on low end, may is because i driving auto and its a 1.3L car. perhaps that is the reason.

to continue frm previous thread, the JB workshop only brings in 3 different grades; 5w30, 10w40, 5w50. was told there is 0w50 but it cost RM500 so the workshop didn't import in. and it is for those cars whose engine already change piston, cam, rod, etc....

the workshop boss mentioned the engine oil is made in japan and is using brand new oil; unlike some brands which mix new oil with recycle oil.

had a good understanding from the workshop boss that he already recommended some Mitsubishi Lancer, CS3 drivers to use 5w50. surprisingly, this 5w50 has the same performance if not better than normal 5w40 engine oil. quite a number of cs3 owners are already using it. and the feedback is, the engine noise is quieter, engine acceleration more smooth, better pickup, and best FC is the same as using 5w40 engine oil. as per workshop boss statement, he can't really explain the full reason behind but definitely, this is the beauty of this engine oil. those cs3 drivers might want to support this statement as i no longer drive a cs3.

i am not sure how true the statement but i believe he is telling the truth as i've known him for few years and have also help him alot on his business. no credit for lying just to earn that little bucks.

if any bro wanna try, can also share their feedback here. let those bros keen to try enjoy using this engine oil. for those bro who might want to research more, i don't have the link yet. need to call up the workshop boss to ask.
