Maxus-MIFA9 Supersonic September 24, 2009 Share September 24, 2009 Just couldn't believe it that ManCity is using the 1st team to play in Carling Cup against Fulham .......... All top teams are putting on their reserves to play in Carling Cup and MH is desperate to hold on to at least 1 silverware which chances are, he is eyeing this one as the rest of the teams are using their reserves to play. Even Fulham fill in a complete different starting XI................ The 1st team players for top teams will only comes out during 5th or 6th rounds but ManCity is all out to fight it to the final........ ESPN Soccernet report : Manchester City 2 - 1 Fulham Manchester City captain Kolo Toure banished the club's derby blues by scoring the winner in extra-time at Eastlands to take them into the fourth round of the Carling Cup with a 2-1 win over Fulham. City found it hard going against Fulham after losing in stoppage time against Manchester United on Sunday but Toure found the target in the 111th minute to take Mark Hughes' men into the last 16. Fulham manager Roy Hodgson named a completely different starting XI to the one that lost to Wolves in the Premier League on Sunday and the west Londoners opened the scoring with a wonder goal from Zoltan Gera, only for Gareth Barry to pull City level. ↡ Advertisement

Man City made just 1 change (Zabaleta in for Micah Richards) from the team which lost over the weekend. Fulham made 11 changes.
Kingcopa 1st Gear September 24, 2009 Share September 24, 2009 For some teams, this is their most realistic chance of silverware provided they are sure they wont involve in relegation dogfight. Anyway all their players earn big bucks, cannot let them be too relax
Nutty 4th Gear September 24, 2009 Share September 24, 2009 Teams used to treat Carling Cup seriously, especially when it was known as Littlewoods Cup. Then the big teams started to field reserve teams. Now even smaller teams are doing the same. May as well stop this Mickey Mouse cup. It's becoming pointless. Yeshe Turbocharged September 24, 2009 Share September 24, 2009 actually MC also not in champion's league, so they should be quite relac and can focus on BPL, FA Cup and this Carling Cup
Scion Turbocharged September 24, 2009 Share September 24, 2009 clinching the league cup (relatively easiest) and a qualifying spot for next season's CL will more or less confirm Mark Hughes' reins at Man City next season
Fooblack Supercharged September 25, 2009 Share September 25, 2009 think this a plot to put MC on some publicity if they do win the carling cup.. .perhaps this is their realistic target for this season... ↡ Advertisement
