Smhomie Clutched October 28, 2009 Share October 28, 2009 Sorry, I don't mean you heat shield the nanoplulser. First of all, you must heat shield the battery to protect it from the hot engine heat. Nanopulser or battery desulphator is a 2nd line of defence, imo. Nanopulser fills the void left by inadequate charging, stop-go conditions and lead sulphation. It is the 1st line of defence since internally you can't do anything. Heatshielding is the 2nd line of defence as I see it since you can either DIY a nitrile rubber casing or the car comes with a ABS box like Audi and other continentals, unlike Jap or Korean makes. With or without heatshielding makes no difference as I see it as the convectional heat would engulf the battery in the first place (bonnet temps are extremely hot). If the DIY casing is too thick, you are actually trapping radiant heat longer in the battery itself, since the polypropylene casing can no longer dissipate the heat because of the rubber casing. Not to mention the pockets of hot air in between the walls of loose rubber and casing that trap heat further. Catch 22 situation.
