Zhihao 1st Gear October 16, 2009 Share October 16, 2009 Hi all, need some advice... my car conked out on me suddenly... can't start at all... managed to start in the morning and afternoon when want to wash my car, car can't start at all... there was a small period where the engine attempted to crank and i can see the engine block vibrating a little and after that attempt to crank, nothing happens with the "engine symbol led" on, on the display panel... during the initial 5 attempt to start, there is this "drilling" like sound, and after that, the subsequently starts sounded weaker... i'm not convinced that this is a battery problem as my battery has been relatively healthy, no delay starts recently at all... also i tried to jump start but it failed as well... my AC, radio, lights are all working, coupled with perfect engine cranks all the while, i'm not convinced this is a battery problem... i intend to tow it to my regular workshop if the on site mechanic concludes that it is not a battery problem, if it is, where should i ask him to tow to for a shop which offer good pricing for battery? soh brothers, uncle frankie? any idea what could be the problem guys? ↡ Advertisement

Newcar 1st Gear October 16, 2009 Share October 16, 2009 Could the key's internal ic chip being faulty? It may sounds non logical nor crazy....! Well, does your car equipped with " Car immobilizer"? Some car's key have some ic chips inside which sync with key slot...! Me tried duplicate a normal key in past and it behave just what was describe in previous when me crank my car..!

Karebu 1st Gear October 16, 2009 Share October 16, 2009 may i borrow your thread? is there a place to get battery voltmeter. i do not want it to be those huge gauge, don't mind a wire running and i can tuck it away somewhere. perhaps like a thermometer size kind?
Mr_biscuit 3rd Gear October 16, 2009 Share October 16, 2009 If u haven't change the car battery before, high chance is the battery problem. OEM car battery which is maintenance free can simply die off without warning. My mother-in-law also encountered this problem early this year when her Toyota Vios was about 30K of milleage clocked. Sio07 Neutral Newbie October 16, 2009 Share October 16, 2009 I am 60-70% sure that it is the battery problem. Try getting someone to help you with the jumpstart cable and start you vehicle. If the vehicle can start, confirmed battery. Once started, check for electrical "leak".

Redlavita Neutral Newbie October 16, 2009 Share October 16, 2009 (edited) i have the same experience, and very likely the battery up the car liao crank starting the engine requires high current/amperes, the reason you cant jump start may due to the thin jumper cables which is not able to carry the load hahaha, after posting this realised that you can start the car liao Edited October 16, 2009 by Redlavita
