Kawarides Neutral Newbie October 18, 2009 Share October 18, 2009 The best way is to tell her nicely that you are not convinced by the product and not becos of her.....until she can find a better cure suggest to her that is best that she keep her money first. ↡ Advertisement

Damienic 5th Gear October 18, 2009 Share October 18, 2009 Hi all, I have this close relative (sis-in-law) suddenly call us and wanted us to help her on a product purchase. Their family is not very well off, got three teenage kids and both parents are from the low income group. She's been visiting this thermal massage bed shop in the east to "treat" her back problem. She claimed they having a promo till end Oct, each bed costing about $4500!!! with credit card can pay instalment for two years. She wants to use our credit card for the instalments and she will pay us monthly. I was thinking, they need to feed their family (school fees, daily expenses) and that should be the priority, right? If we reject her, things may turn ugly. If don't reject, we might "harm" them further or we fear we may ended up paying the instalment ourselves. (she still owns us a few thousands since 2007!!! in fact she own other siblings $$$ too, mostly 4 digits) any bro heard of this massage bed call Ceragem?? is it that good? any good advice to "educate" them? heizzzz, this are one of those situation, sigh.... This bed is really good...my parents used to visit the shop and used it for free trials over a few months and can feel the benefits...eventually we bought it on instalment.. However, the issue is not whether this bed is good or not...is whether they deserve your help or not..some people just chow kuan and want to take advantage of others...you should think it over carefully whether to help for this instance or not...it has potential to become a bottomless pit.. Nicholasl Neutral Newbie October 18, 2009 Share October 18, 2009 if u got the spare money and care alot about the "family ties" then lend without expecting she to return u. if u dun wanna lend But not prepared to flip table with her just cook up some excuse to shoo her off, maxed out card la, wallet lost la, u ownself owe ppl money la. if u dun wanna lend && prepared to flip table with her then go and demand your loans to her back first. this is one of the most ma fun things ever...Money and family relationships binded together. Good one. If I were in the situation, I would say "Wah lao eh, owe so much $$ still wan buy luxury goods ar? I only sleep on $500 mattress le, u wan buy a $4.5k one? Not steady le sister.." Starian Clutched October 18, 2009 Share October 18, 2009 serious? i though the monthly credit limit is based on Limit minus the monthly instalments... Nope, else you can sign many installment plans, and this become a loophole. So think thru many times, even if you feel the product is worth buying. Hope you get thru this hurdle. If the SIL have the means to pay the installment by herself. How about the money owed to the rest of the siblings which incur to a few thousands as well. Got money cannot return first? Must keep on borrowing to buy more luxury? And its not even proven that the bed cures the back. Does it mean that TS should just write off the few thousands that she borrowed? WTF 4th Gear October 18, 2009 Share October 18, 2009 I think its based on limits minus monthly... When u buy an item and uses the installment plan, the money is not deducted in full rather its deducted by the monthly installment price. It's your limit minus the full amt. I just cleared mine start of this year when my friend needs to make a big purchase on the last day of a promotion for the credit card. When I called the bank enquiring about the drop in limit, they told me it's due to the outstanding installment. Every month you pay up 1 installment, your credit limit goes up by the same amt. Kyojin 1st Gear October 18, 2009 Share October 18, 2009 just politely say you've checked your credit card bills and you are reaching your approved limit... that way, you don't offend anyone. this will come at the expense of other family members thinking you live on credit - i know some people/families use this as a gossip topic.
