IMO you are not wrong, car 2 should follow car 1 as it is a 1 lane road.

 

They should have a kerb to replace the white line to stop all this nonsense drivers. If only they are responsive enough to feedbacks.

my take on the issue is that the minute car 2 changed into the lane indicated, he has right of way coz he seems to be the one on major road especially since his lane is not covered by the yellow box.

 

although i feel more strongly that this situation would be best resolved by simple courtesy; between TS and car 2, so long as one side takes the initiative to give way and think no more of the technicalities of right of way, the matter would be quickly resolved. i am not implying that TS is an inconsiderate driver coz its obvious to me he's just confused by the situation and not ranting about having right of way. but really, courtesy and common sense would have been the best quickest solution.

 

which therefore means that junction needs a traffic light, coz s'porean motorists in general cant be depended upon to use courtesy and common sense

But I find that car 1 is wrong to stop when the RAD area is not occupied. And car 2, though not supposed to stagger within 2 lanes, eventually did the right thing by stopping to let you through to 1. prevent an accident and 2. prevent a probable collision if a car suddenly turns left from East coast road to telok kurau rd at a high speed, assuming the length of the RAD area is a short one.

basically, suppose to giv way to the right, so if u turning right den u gotta give way to those that are going st8.

if u turning right n the opp of u turning left, u gotta giv him way first.

and also small road muz giv way to main road.

I need fellow forum members help me make sense of this scenario.

 

I am trying to turn right at a 4 way junction. It is all single traffic on all sides with a solid white line running down the middle. However my side has a yellow box painted. The car immediately to my right (car 1) has stopped to give way to me. I cannot see oncoming traffic on the left so I have to go into the yellow box. The car behind car 1 (car2)proceeded to cross the white line to overtake only to be stopped by me as I am in the junction box waiting for the left to clear before turning right. As the traffic cleared I proceeded to turn right but can only proceed slowly as car 2 is straddling 2 lanes . I made eye contact with driver of car 2. He shook his head to indicate I was being an inconsiderate driver. This has happened a few times and it is an accident waiting to happen. I would just like to ask you folks what you think is proper coz I cannot recall being wrong on any occasion.

Thks for the consturctive comments, I am apologectic if the desciption is not clear. I guess to truly understand one has to be there.

 

In any case...aft the comments from others..also very cautious now. Last thing I want to do is invite the accident to happen.

personally i think car 2 is not right too. HE is trying to overtake at single lane when the car in font stop. you wont have the edge out if his car is not there.

Hi JOseph...Yeah well I guess 2 wrongs don't make a right....this situation will worsen when more apartments int hat area come "online"....I waiting to hear from LTA. But as some other memebr pointed out they may not even respond. I guess they always know better than us.

i was merely pointing out that this kindda situatin will worsen when more and more people move into that area coz got a lot of projects will TOP soon...so that road will be more congested.

for those who dont believe, Go to the road along Bona Vista MRT from AYE. The yellow box is ready hugh for a 3 lane road.

I had seen those yellow box that dont allow ppl to turn right. They only occupy 1 or 2 lane.

1 good practice, which is actually common in US, is if you are not sure which is the main road, stop at the junction. The car which stops at the junction 1st gets to go 1st.
