Pchmj Clutched October 27, 2009 Share October 27, 2009 Alcantara is fabric, not leather. Isn't it some synthetic leather?
Konken Clutched October 27, 2009 Share October 27, 2009 Nope. High grade suede is a closer description than leather. There is no Alcantara leather, its Alcantara + leather = 2 material sewn together that cover the seat. I was confused in the past as well.

I guess ur method is more for stains and spills, not really regular maintainance. I rmb reading from somewhere that coffee stains can be removed by shaving cream. Ixat 1st Gear November 19, 2009 Share November 19, 2009 Alcantara.com recommends not to use steam cleaning. But seems that steam cleaning returned the best results for me so far. Try at own risk!
Ender Hypersonic November 19, 2009 Share November 19, 2009 (edited) Different bah. I guess ur method is more for stains and spills, not really regular maintainance. I rmb reading from somewhere that coffee stains can be removed by shaving cream. Weekly cleaning I still use the foamy upholstry to do a simple wipe down... 3 years liao, alcantara still looks and smell good. The upholstry cleaner gives a sanitized smell too. . Again, I say alcantara is not fragile. I think the leather portion of my car seat needs more maintenance, like applying leather care oil weekly.. Sometimes the leather care oil spills over to the alcantara portion on the seat, just use a dry cloth and wipe off from the alcantara. No oil stain or whatever left behind Edited November 19, 2009 by Ender
Skip Neutral Newbie November 19, 2009 Share November 19, 2009 I am using Sonax Alcantara Leather Cleaner. Just spray the foam directly on the alcantara and wipe with a sponge or cloth, then park the car under the sun for it to dry. I bought it from Autobacs quite some time ago, but i remember seeing them at Giant or Fairprice Xtra also... The alcantara leather is very durable, my almost-4-year-old seats are still looking good with occasional maintenance... no scratches, stains or tears so far...
