Sjlim Clutched November 1, 2009 Share November 1, 2009 After hearing and seeing numerous negative feedback on BMW, I'm starting to have my doubts.... Problem is a test drive alone will not tell you how much trouble you may face a few years down the line, and feedback is all we've got. Bro, If the negative feedback you have seen is just from 1 or 2 forumers (whose agenda we do not know), you may want to find out more from other existing BMW owners. Many of us are repeat owners, and we definitely have not experienced anywhere near the no. of problems that a particular forumer here says he has. Cheers. Sir8 Neutral Newbie November 1, 2009 Share November 1, 2009 Appreciate your feedback on how many parts have been replaced. Tks. I m driving a 7 yr old BMW. What kind of feedback u r looking for? BMW is nvr meant for lazy ppl as it has a lot of moving parts, juz like a human.
W210k 1st Gear November 1, 2009 Share November 1, 2009 (edited) Even with a Audi quattro, an RWD BMW will still out-handle it better, on normal roads. Watch this: In any case, I personally don't like forced induction engines. So my vote would go to the BMW. (and yes, I am fully aware that the 335i and like BMWs are now FI also, thank you). The are other things of BMW which I also perceive as 'better': - hydraulic power steering (except for the 1-er), while Audi utilises VAG's electro-mechanical p/s ... which has this numb in the centre feel, as well as overall feeling lighter and more-detached. - IL-6 engine is more inherently stable. V6 needs counter-rotating balancer shaft(s), making the engine block overall, much heavier. Audi does have NA V6 engines too, but these are usually nose-heavy and does not help in Audi's F/F FWD setup, re handling and balance Edited November 1, 2009 by W210k
Silverkris 5th Gear November 1, 2009 Share November 1, 2009 If you are ever in doubt in one or the other, I will recommend BMW. But if you already knows what you are looking for in the car, Looks and uncommonty goes to Audi, but the handling and power linearity still goes to BMW. Audi still does not drive like BMW do, but definitely looks better than BMW now.
Pckwpckw Neutral Newbie November 1, 2009 Author Share November 1, 2009 BMW 5series and 7 series is rate by forbes to be the top 10 most unreliable car in recent time. Jolie888 Clutched November 1, 2009 Share November 1, 2009 BMW's x-Drive implementation appears also to be more effective than Audi's quattro. Look at these for a good laugh - thought provoking too, on what quattro can and cannot do: quattro cannot pull with rear wheels on rollers So is there a real 'limitation' to Audi's quattro? Pckwpckw Neutral Newbie November 1, 2009 Author Share November 1, 2009 BMW have not won any leman race. and Audi now is belong to the lambo , posche family so the technology for performance is higher, BMW is neither here or there if talk about refinement they cannot make it, when talk about performance it is still far from winning a leman race. Youaredie Clutched November 1, 2009 Share November 1, 2009 I see the evolution of these two car makes lke this. BMW was like the Nissan equivalent. And Audi was Hyundai equivalent. Note that its just in terms of status, not the make and quality. Now, Audi has risen to almost the same level as BMW, just like Hyundai has against Nissan. Like improved looks but also good quality engines at a slightly lower price. So can say to go for the age old status feel, its BMW man. New, sexy upcomer, go for the Audi. Problem is a test drive alone will not tell you how much trouble you may face a few years down the line, and feedback is all we've got. cars, esp conti can be good or bad..when you got one that give you problem, you would have wish that you haven't brought one.. but when it's problem free, it will kill you when you think of changing cars coz it have serve you so well. if one is looking for a problem free car, then sadly, my own opinion is to look at the japz. inlinesix Hypersonic November 1, 2009 Share November 1, 2009 BMW have not won any leman race. and Audi now is belong to the lambo , posche family so the technology for performance is higher, BMW is neither here or there if talk about refinement they cannot make it, when talk about performance it is still far from winning a leman race. BMW won WTCC over 3 consecutive years from 2005 - 2007. In 2008, it lost to Seat Leon TDI. Lambo belongs to Audi & not vice versa. The reason Audi won Le Man is because they use Diesel which has lower fuel consumption. On the other hand, BMW has F1 programme. So, do u it is wise to have another Le Man programme going? ↡ Advertisement
