Vidz 6th Gear February 10, 2010 Share February 10, 2010 I'm pretty tempted to wire up two horns on my car. The right thumb will sound a happy horn, and the left hand (I drive a manual, if the left hand is on the wheel.. its usually in a nasty scenario).. will activate angry horn. Of course, "Dukes of Hazard" horn would work too... I wonder if LTA will allow this? maybe a flame-thrower tied with the angry horn too...
Mongalai Neutral Newbie February 10, 2010 Share February 10, 2010 I can't say for the rest but there was one guy I met who really do not like being horned at. 2 weeks ago, I was driving back home to Tampines from Expo. As I was making my way via Simei, I encountered this driver who happened to parked his car by the roadshow outside some condo, blinking lights on, and was happily talking to 2 of his lady friends. Those who are familiar would know that the road is a 2 lane road. I was on the inner lane. I could not go to the outer lane as there was a stream of traffic. Soon, a bunch of vehicles start to pile up behind me, all had to stop because of this fella who decided to stop by the roadside and talk c--k. We waited a quite a while for the traffic on the outer lane to clear before we proceed to overtake his stationary vehicle. Before I moved off, I gave him a short blast of my horn to show my displeasure at his total lack of consideration for other road users. I happily proceed on my way. My horn must have really pissed him off as lo and behold, approx 20 secs after I moved off, I can see him driving really fast catching up with me in my rear view mirror on the outer lane (I have moved back to the inner lane after overtaking). After catching up, he proceed to drive really close to my car before deciding to do an abrupt cut into my lane. Shortly, after the junction, we went our separate ways. Leaving me to wonder why are there such idiotic drivers around and him...maybe an inflated ego.

Ambious Neutral Newbie February 10, 2010 Share February 10, 2010 hi forumers just wanna get some feedbck from u all guys...is it true that most drivers dont like to be horned at ?????a sound of horn is just a warning or the danger that they might cause to other motorist n its just a courtesy gestures for warning them.....y most singaporeans behave these ways...dunt like to be horned at just stay in the mountain area as there will no single veh on the mountain... Not say we don't like to be horn at. A sign of warning is good with a horn but I notice that in SG, horn not only uses to warn ppl of danger. I ever see cars horn or flashes at other cars when those cars travel at speed limit on highway and the guy who horn were like 100+km/h. Sometimes it's on the middle lane of the expressway... That makes more ppl getting fed up with the horning. Seems like in SG, horn is use in these also... 1. Get out of my way 2. U r too slow 3. Do not cross, I'm basing across

"huh? what you mean? fly over ah?" my friend apologised and slowed down... we all had a good laugh when told of story... no u should take picture of them and send the pics to police and label it as wanted man
Jasmanng Neutral Newbie February 10, 2010 Share February 10, 2010 Simple, no driver will want to horn if basic road courtesy are observed. 1) Do not road hog the right most lane, non withstanding you are keeping to speed limit. It's meant for overtaking. 2) Please signal early... most driver signal and change lane almost instantaneously. It doesn't serve the purpose. 3) Do not park at the road side for your own convenience. You are inconveniencing others. 4) Turn on your headlights after 7pm. Especially those cars with optitron instrumentation panel... they simply forget! To horn is to give warning and avoid accidents and it's part and parcel of driving. If you don't like to be horn, I suggest either observe above or install sound proofing. There's a limit to patience... human nature. Peace!

Jamesc Hypersonic February 20, 2010 Share February 20, 2010 If you drive properly, no one will horn. If a person is getting horn at all the time, they need to analyze how they drive.

There's a limit to patience... human nature. Peace! No always true. Some drivers here are so impatience. Horn you to move fast even when there are still in coming traffic at the junction or before even the lights turned green. I got horn quite a few time at junction where I waited for the cars at the other side to slowed down (or they confirm stopping) before I proceed. No point risking a crush for a few second gain know how many red lights brasher there are in SG. I do horn at driver & people quite often as well. But never because they are slow to park or move, but due to danger driving & crossing of roads. And not even because I am angry with them, just hope my warning can remain them the dangerous act they just did & hopefully do not repeat in future, especially those bochap road crosser, some even on the phone talking like they are on the pavement, very dangerous!!! But sadly, not everyone think of it this way & I got being pointed finger at a few times.

Some people like to block faster cars, I think they feel good doing it maybe even get erection.
MadDog70 2nd Gear February 20, 2010 Share February 20, 2010 (edited) I found that in Singapore, using Horning to give way is difficult. Some might treat it as a warning or scolding, therefore they will not dare to turn into your lane (I myself also feel this way). So I used the method that drivers in UK practised, they flash their headlights if they wish to give way to the car in front, be it cars entering into expressway or wants to overtake. But two quick flashes hor, not one long flash which usually means "Get Out of the Way". I did this all the times to the buses, seems like the bus drivers know I'm giving way. I did the same to cars, some understand the language but some don't (maybe they worried I'm scolding them). How I wish Singapore can adopt this method, maybe put this into the driving theory, so that driving is more friendly. Seevic Neutral Newbie February 20, 2010 Share February 20, 2010 Not all horns are bad. Some are in fact "friendly horns", to warn the other road users before the real accident happens.
