Hi guys,

recently encounter my pc having problems. It freezes(hangs) as and when it likes. In the midst of surfing web, or playing facebook games.

I've already

-use another hdd with fresh OS but problems still same

-use ram from another pc and remove the current ram to test

what problem am i looking at ?

Sometimes, I can play like 30mins without any problems, but at times, 5mins i freezes already.

performed

-scandisk

-defragmenter

-system restore to 3 weeks before problems arises

Any one encountered before ? Even when installing OS on my OLD hdd, also can hang. seriously headache.

Your PC is in a air-cond room? Is your room dusty? Have you check all the fans? Could be overheating....

hmm i can't perform memtest86, coz it requires floppy disk, my pc don't have. any other ways to run ? i randomly selected other memtest but seems useless. makes my pc lag and freeze.

hmm, virus wise i believe shld not be the case? cause i use a fresh set of OS, but same thing happens. :(

yup in air conditioned room. when changing hdd and ram, already did some wiping. left the casing open for easy access. even when it freezes, the fans (both for processor and the ventiliation) are still running.

headache.

you can create an image i.e. .iso of memtest on a CD and boot up using your optical disc to run the memtest

Anyway if your computer fails memtest86, it usually means that your RAM could be the culprit. people typically run the memtest for 7 passes using the most stringent stress standard available.

if that happens, you can try troubleshooting your RAM by booting up your computer using only 1x stick each time

Hmm.. sorry for the noobie question. Do i use some tools to convert it to ISO image ? Optical disc = CD ? Is it possible to do it using thumbdrive a not ah ? I've heard some IT people talking about booting up using thumbdrive and etc

Anyway, whats some reputable pc troubleshooting shops in simlim ? Any care to recommend ? Whats the price range I should be looking at for such troubleshooting (exclude parts replacement).
