Ford generally makes very good cars. That's why the mondy and focus are doing so well in europe. I'm not surprised to hear that the S-max is great to drive too. Sometimes I can't understand why people would pay the same or more for a jap made accord, camry or even mazda 6. I have tried all these cars in the same class and mondeo beats them FLAT in terms of refinement, body and chasis build, handling etc. Somehow it feels a lot more hollow when driving jap car in the same class. If they are the same price, it's a no brainer really to go continental. Somemore Ford gives 5 years warranty...

Just to share with you that my 3+yr old Focus has slight engine cranking problems since day 1. Will occassionally have weak starts here and there till date. We thought it was a battery problem so we brought it back for a check. Technician had it charged or something like that and improved. However, after 1 week or so, the poor cranking problem started again. Alternator then failed. Experienced a loss of power and electricity in the car then had to tow the whole car back to RM. Till date, the engine still doesnt crank well. RM also cannot explain why.

Have u been pumping Ron95 and above? This car can't take Ron92...pumped Ron92 and it doesn't start well, and engine will vibrate badly.

Been pumping Esso 95 for 4 years on my Focus and doesn't have any problems at all.

Do not pump anything below 95 as the manufacturer's recommendation is at least 95.

I drove focus mk2 for 4yrs, good handling car, just lack power due to 1.6 engine. Jap cars no match in term of build quality & handling. Have since change to mondeo for almost a year, great car in term of spaciousness (same chassis as S80), handling, look [nod] and drive even better than premium conti like E-class (I was a MB service advisor) [drivingcar] . Price maybe too high for now (I bought @ 84k). But overall is a good & reliable car to own it longer, 6-7yrs. Importantly, very difficult to spot one in SG. [thumbsup]

Didnt know that Mondeo is using S80 chasis. If Focus and Mazda 3 is usiing S40 chasis, does that mean Mazda 6 is using S80 chasis as Mondeo?

Congrats on being one of the few rare owners for Mondeo. It's indeed a very, very good car and actually drives better than a lot of premium brands like volvos, BMWs etc I have driven before.

Btw, are you a member of Ford forum Singapore?

Ford Motor once owned Volvo and Mazda still with them. My previous focus have some parts that has volvo label on it. Mazda 6 wheel base is slightly shorter @ 2725mm, Mondeo @ 2850mm, don't think is the same, maybe S60.

i face the same problem with my 3 yr old focus... in fact when it turned 2 i couldnt start the engine and RM mechanic came and jumpstarted and i drove it back to RM for battery replacement. however after replacement i still experience occasional poor cranking (maybe once out of 5 times).

btw in the ulu west where i stay the focus is a common sight...

I registered a few days ago and my account has not been approved yet, so I was wondering if the page is dead or admins has not had time to approve it yet.
