The new model of Jazz are not using CVT. Yes, manual gearbox won't have such problem.

I used to drive the Jazz with CVT. Changed the start up clutch once, luckily it was under warranty.

the 07 Jazz/FIT is known as the GD Fit. Autos are equipped with CVT be it from PIs or KM.

It comes with i-DSi (1339cc) engines and VTEC for 1.5L

In terms of fuel-saving for the GD model, the i-Dsi would be e choice.

The lastest model is GE. For the GE models, only the Jazz sold by KM comes with 5-speed AT.

GE Fits comes with CVT.

GE Fits and Jazzes are equipped with i-VTEC engines producing 100bhp(1.3L) and 120bhp(1.5L)

Conclusion, if u are getting the 2007 model, get a manual.

I have no doubt that cvt is smooth.

I'm sure fellow forumers were referring to the more nitty gritty

every 20k change cvtf... i had a friend drove till 200k... he dont have this problem.. he drove a 3G city (same gearbox as the jazz)

however, startup clutch is wear n tear problem ( i think is something related to our SG traffic) need to change when occur.. the worst is the vibration occurs upon acceleration.. this 1 shall be gearbox problem..

MT gearbox wont break down so easily unless u thrash it.

I dun tink startup clutch is a cheap cheap thing to replace...

For MT, u only have to change the clutch at intervals of 80K(subjective) and of cause the MT fluid.

Cost is ard $200+ - $300+ including labour if done outside.
