Help me decide between Dmax vs. Hilux 2010 model

i haf driven both b4. the d-max is a very rock solid pickup. but not as fun, much much slower and drives completely like a van. hilux is fast. the 3.0 diesel tc is very fun and addictive. but dun feel as solid as d-max.

if thats the case..like u mentioned...

then maybe D-max is a better choicce [:p]

 

but me find D-max is better looking then hilux... [:p]

Hi. I'm from borneo. I will choose Dmax. I join convoys and I do a lot of research on pick-ups. First the Hilux uses 130mpa commonrail where as all other brand uses 180mpa common rail. Dmax is most fuel efficient compare to others. Hilux stability is worst on road especially taking corner but off road, not bad at all. the rear feels bumpy and light. But Dmax is best on road no matter in town or bumpy road. Even off road in oil palm plantation. Stability is best.

Other brand, Triton is good too but you can feels it like less tough than Dmax. Chassis feels a bit lighter. ford ranger is good too in performance but fuel consumption is worst. Same as Mazda BT50 because BT50 use Ford duratorq engine. Navara is also not bad. Stable and good performance.

Commonrail is the new generation 'direct injection' system. Taking previous Isuzu 2.8td 4JB1T for example which is used by Isuzu pick-up, this engine does not have commonrail. The engine uses high pressure diesel pump to inject diesel into the engine. The pressure is up to 18.1 mega pascal. Commonrail system is electronic controlled 'direct injection' system too. But it supplies 130 mega pascal pressure which is 7 times stronger than 4JB1T engine in the 1st generation commonrail used by Toyota 1KD-FTV 3.0L and 2KD-FTV 2.5L engines. The 2nd generation is 160 mega pascal pressure and the 3rd generation 180 mega pascal pressure. The 3rd generation commonrail is used by Isuzu 4JJ1 3.0L and 4JK1 2.5L, Mitsubishi 4D56 2.5L and 4M41 3.2L, Ford Duratorq 2.5L and 3.0L and Nissan YD25DDTi 2.5L.

 

The higher of pressure of diesel injected into the engine, the more complete combustion the engine will have because the mixture of air and and diesel is more complete. Previously, you will find that a lot of diesel engine only runs with SOHC, 2 valves per cylinder to reduce emission of uncomplete combustion 'black smoke'. But with commonrail, all the engines above are DOHC, 4 valves per cylinder. So you will find that the modern commonrail engine are actually more horsepower and high torque. Besides that, commonrail engine doesn't produce much black smoke, more fuel efficient, and more queit and less vibration compare to all non-commonrail engines. In other words, it just feels like gasoline power engine.

 

The 4th generation of commonrail is estimated will launch in end of this year or next year by Denso corp. The 4th generation supplies 200mpa pressure.
