Dumb 4th Gear July 30, 2012 Share July 30, 2012 This Thu my car will 6 years old and mileage is now 186k. I have habit of re-fueling only after the fuel lite comes on. Even then after driving 60 to 100 km before I re-fuel. Twice I drove till no petrol!!! So far no problem with fuel pump. ↡ Advertisement
AnnieSialo Neutral Newbie July 30, 2012 Share July 30, 2012 It is really risky and if by any chance you have identified the problem with the fuel tank, I would advise not to drive it and get it repaired.

Gendut 2nd Gear July 31, 2012 Share July 31, 2012 The method of turn the ACC to ON and wait 10-15 seconds works to help me determine my fuel pump is showing signs of failure. My engine can't crank up randomly, when it happpen, I have to really crank for 5 seconds of more to start engine. Changed spark plugs, battery, do all the regular servicing, same problem, until someone recommend the ACC to ON method. Now car can start properly. But as preventive measure, better get it replace before stalling on highway. And yes, I have a habit to drive to last drop of fuel, blame on credit cards promotions bah. :) Now trying to determine a WS for the change, don't want to get carrot. In fact it may not be the pump that is showing signs of failure. It is the non-return check valve that is leaking, causing those symptoms. Installing a third party check valve in the fuel line is way much cheaper than a new pump. Good luck ↡ Advertisement
