You guys can go to youtube to see how ppl reuse their nespresso pods and how to use nespresso machines.

BTW, those cheap espresso machines normally make very light and watery coffee. a real espresso machine must be able to produce high pressure to force the water into the grains and drip the essence into an espresso shot cup.

Depends on how it is kept too. It takes on the flavors of what is kept around it.

There is a secret compartment of mine in the freezer. I arrest the degradation by freezing.

This most of the coffee crazy guys will know. The cheapo machines are steam driven. The real espresso machines are pump and piston driven. Big difference on how much pressure you can force the water through.

I had a wild idea before. Use a pressure cooker and once the steam got pressurized, pass it through a regulator to produce lets say 30 bar pressure. Force hot water through at this pressure.

One of my crazy da Vinci moments on a lazy afternoon.

Actually, my French press can rival this ristretto. [laugh]

I always told those who want more caffeine. If that is what you want, the French press is the most powerful in extracting caffeine.

Southeast asian coffee from Malaysia and Singapore are more from the liberica beans. These are caffeine rich beans. Very rich. Richer than robusta and very different in taste from the robusta even.

I have always thought there were only two main variants. Is Liberica a variant from robusta?

chill will do, don't have to freeze it if you consume within a few months. Grind only the amount you need. once grind, it is as good as gone.

True, because roasted coffee is like a silica gel dessicant, absorb whatever mositure in the surroundings.

So those columbian coffee that were near banana plantations really do have a hint of fruitiness . [laugh]

Not a variant. It is completely different. Grown in Liberia originally. Now grown in Liberia, Indonesia and Malaysia. Tough tree. That is why it is grown. It's just plain tough.

Turbocharged

Peets is good, but need to smuggle back, haha. Illy's med roast is nice, but the dark roast is too burnt for my liking.

There is another new kid on the block, Arezzo,Taurus, Mayer selling it for $268 + 3 boxes of capsules.

Each capsule cost around $0.70, which is cheaper compared to Nespresso. Taste wise quite similar to Nespresso, Ristreto but they have only 4 different types of capsules.

I own 1. And many others I know, have it. In terms of cost per usage, it is not expensive.

$9 for a tube of 10 capsules. 90 cents per cup.

I use to pay $8 for a pack of freshly ground espresso from starbucks, makes about 10 cups.

But the cleaning and messy process is not worth the savings of 10cents per cup.

The coffee pods from Pantry Guy is calculated to be around 53 cents a pod. Even cheaper.

I think all these clonespresso with the foil sealed pods are making a killing.

See if your clonespresso machine can take the normal pods.

Brewed 2X 2 cups this morning.

This Carrefour model seems like a Krups Combi clone. The only difference is the willingness to accept pods.

All I can say now is that it is cheap and I doubt it will explode.

I can teach you for free. Didn't you see my three group espresso machine, coffee roaster and grinder when you came by my place the last time?

You want to do latte art, you pay for the milk, I give you the time.

Highland Coffee is my haunt. I detest Starbucks and their ilk though for some strange reason, McCafe has better cuppas then the other two.

Will be joining their course on being a barista.
