last wkend, a taxi hit my car at the left side headlight & bumper area..

there is some scratches at the side & dent and the headlight is broken..

As it was the 1st time i involved in an accident, i did not know what to do, & i only take down the taxi driver particulars without his contact number , without taking any photo of the accident scene and the taxi vehicle..

Then i visit this workshop which my fren service once b4.. & i followed the workshop boss 's advice to file a report at IDAC. Then he tell me he will repair it for me for FREE without me paying anything since i already filed a 3rd Party Claim. He claimed that if i filed to get any claim, he will bear the costs himself for the repair & spare parts including those surveyor and legal fees..

How come got such good deal? can anyone advice how come the workshop quoted me for free? If let's say the workshop failed to claim the taxi insurance, can the workshop claim my insurance without me knowing? Is it possible that if he failed to claim the 3rd party insurance, he wont return me my car unless i pay him cash or he claimed my insurance?

Expert Pls Advice..

Lastly any cheap & reliable workshop person i can contact to check on my condition and help me filed a 3rd party claim..

You don't have to pay a single cent becoz, later if he failed to get 3rd part claim from the other guy, he will claim from your insurance big time (inflated cost). Eithey way he gain big time.

You will suffer with loss of NCD and extra loading on premium next year..

I presume its your front ? You never state how your accident happen. But anyway...its a norm for workshop not to charge you for repair when you claim 3rd party. In fact they will even provide a car for you to drive during the period when your car is under repair OR you can claim taxi fare for lost of use.

Normally workshop will advise you how confident they are when they file for 3rd party claim. If eg its a front to back...then no issue. However, they will claim the repair amount from you if they fail to claim from 3rd party insurance...they will normally ask you to sign a discharge voucher (for finish repairing your car) and a indemnity letter (tis is to allow them to claim from your insurance should the 3rd party fails).

If your repair is not so jialat, and really suay suay 3rd party cannot go thru, ask the workshop for a quote...they will normally charge you cheaper if you pay by cash.

Hi,

I thought third party insurance cannot claim anything 1? How come you can ? Or is it when you are not at fault then insurance will pay?

Noob abt this.

I dunno about your ws.

normally, some ws do help you repair for free if they feel they can win the case.

I did it before. How it works is say for a sure win case, they know they will earn. So by enticing you with no

cash upfront, u engage them, they will repair, provide courtesy car and help u claim the other party. They want your business.

Based on what little details you have, i and many can't really comment on your case unless you share more.

With no photos (a huge mistake), I am not sure how the ws try to win.

Another bro commented that if they can't win, they will claim your insurance.

I know my case the ws won't. But not sure if your ws will.

And please, take photos if there is a next time. no matter how minor the accident.

Protect yourself. Haiz!

Simple. Why dont you just call your car insurance company for advice and meanwhile it is good to notify them since there be claims involved. No point asking here coz may get wrong infor or worst kana cheated by workshop then too late. KPKB also useless.

You already pay good money for your car insurance so call them instead.

I file a 3rd party insurance claim on the taxi at idac. so i bring to another workshop to do the repair & they quoted me ard $700 for the damages and they will filed a 3rd party claim for me on the taxi.

So if happen to be a 50 - 50 situation, how much do i need to pay to the workshop?

this is usual practice. i already claimed 2 time on other party, 100% their fault. it save a lot of my time. ws will collect vehicle and provide (car+50% petrol voucher!) to your door step (my place multi-story car park!). i continue to drive to work. later, collect back my car and case closed (for me side). didn't pay a single cent.
