i prefer the turbos without the high pitch psss pssss... think its like losing usable power if the whistle is too high/loud...

 

if i turbo my sunny my car cheng sure zeng....

 

The psss psss is unavoidable due to the BOV. You can duct the air back to intake and it will become alot softer. People just like to vent it out for the osund.

 

I also vent it to atmosphere and hence got the pss pss. But I gotten a very soft BOV. Don't want the noise.

Whether you decide to vent/wooosh to atmosphere with a BOV, or quietly back to the turbo compressor with a CBV depends on your injection system. Magazine test results over the years have shown little performance difference between the two, other than an interesting aural sound. The reason for fitting one is to reduce strain on the compressor turbine wheel, the intercooler, hoses and fittings.

Its troublesome for me to duct back to the compressor as I have replace the intake pipe with an aluminium for (for CAI purpose). I would need to drill hole, weld adapter and get extra hoses for those.

 

Since there are no environmental issues nor performance issues with venting to atmosphere, I must as well go the easier route.

What are the pros and cons? Expert advice pls.

 

Seems that you wish to lighten your engine load, you have few choices.

1. Remove power steering.

2. Remove aircon.

3. Install external water/oil pump.

 

Sounds tedious/expensive? Cheaper alternatives, google some race engine photos and see if you can find aluminium crank pulley installed engines on endurance races.

 

Workshop who recommends these, avoid them.
