Acting Important

Yeah, yeah!

Nowadays, the names and titles of people are getting more and more ridiculous!

Looking through recruit the other day. Saw a company hiring nothing BUT directors.

And the requirements are things like '3-5 years experience', 'degree or diploma'.

And then, heard of the title 'Hygiene Manager'?

That's a janitor.

Just look at MLM org charts. Many sales directors are those hit and run young punks. Of course those who manage to sustain their sales clout are successful.

On the other hand however, those that exhausted their contacts, friends, prospects, etc are often reduced back to their original low-paying and unglam everyday job.

As a cold comfort, the sales director namecard they had painstakingly printed acts as a memento that "I was once glorious"

Aiya, MLMs worthless. No matter how successful one is at MLM, I'd still say they're.....not contributing to society at all. It's really just a glorified, legalized Ponzi scheme.

How about those who claimed they drives BMW and Cayman and Mercs180 in here?

They are also name dropping to act like they are big shot who can afford expensive cars.

People like to feel important.

when i was in ns i got to know this old uncle who was once a driver for ministers.

very humble fella, soft spoken, down to earth. his hobbies are cycling, golf (picked up since his caddying days) and spending time with grandchildren.

he introduced me to road cycling. one day i decided to play golf with him. he's a good player but patiently guided me along as a beginner. after playing we went to the clubhouse, the members looked us up and down like we don't belong there. we sat at a table and next table got a bunch of 'important' people, very loud and name dropping like nobody's business. the uncle just kept quiet. on the way out we heard someone calling out to him and two fellas RAN AFTER HIM. it was two ministers (not MP hor). They backslapped each other and chit chat like old friends for quite a long while, asked about kids etc. needless to say the questions turned from 'who the f is this guy' to 'this is sultan of which state?' :D

i just hung aroung like some impatient prince

ooeii!!!! stop acting important [smash]

wait those people find out and post here, say young punk act important [laugh]:D

nice story to read btw

not that i want to say, but every year during that period, someone big will have to stand on a stage for a few hours and report to me about the job he and his team have been doing and how he plans to go forward. sometimes i do feel he is trying hard as he will try to inject some humour to make me happy.

all these while i am in the comfort of my armchair, and if i dont like what i hear, i will just shout my displeasure at him in his face

Aiya, it's just simple seeking of attention. I think it's normal for all. But of course, there are different ways of doing it.

Some joke, some clown around, some talk loudly. Of course, some name drops.

Edit:

By the way, if I'm with close friends and I got a new car (BMW or not), I'd take out the keys and shake it in front of everyone else and say "HEY HEY HEY!"

haha. my customer really best.

he always puts his 3 iphones and his Lambo keys on the table,

with his bags on the seats, and just go toilet which it is outside the place.

very rich, BUT STINGY uncultured fella..

lets say u meet Mr namedrop Tan again, and u kind of dislike him. Will you expose him?

If i can earn more or get a big deal or get some kind of massive advantage by exposing him, my answer would be yes. Even if there is a big advantage, doing something like that will also damage your own image. So you have to measure if the advantage is worth the damage to your own image.

If no advantage, but just to make him feel small, I will not do it. absolutely not.

People react very viciously when embarrassed or defensive.

You never need another enemy unless its absolutely necessary.

I think I've seen BMW key on the dining table the most.. I guess the design of the key is not pocket friendly, poke here and there, that's why they have to throw on the table before sitting down..

BMW key VERY VERY pocket friendly one.

There are no pokey bits. Its like a very fat key chain.

In fact, I can slot it into the coin lining in my work pants.

When i was driving Honda, yes, very uncomfortable.

The key is long and unwieldy.

Is it, then why most of them take out and put on the table? Strange... Maybe they are used to wear pocketless pants..

Next time I'll take my meat stick out of my pocket and put it down forcefully on the table. There will be a resounding, meaty 'whump'.

All the ladies will scream and oooh in delight and scramble to get a good stroke at it.

And the guys will leave in shame and envy.

BAHAHAHAHA.

Think there are other reasons .... hahahha

I really think its got to do with the EQ and self confidence.

Those with low self confidence, will always need to say

1) My job is xxx

If their job does not sound good,

2) Then they place their BMW key on the table.. ie Eh i very rich, dun look down on me....

Those with a lot of confidence will behave confidently and elegantly. You can see the glow on their faces

Both act in the same manner

I have seen very very very how lian rich people(>US$5 million).

Dunno what they have to prove...
