not that ppl cant afford lah.

when you compare what happened in singapore and neighbour countries, ppl here just not happy to pay that amount for this.

it is like everything now trying to squeeze as much $$ from ppl as possible whenever there is any chance available. be it reasonable or unreasonable.

Blame it on all the publicity of the country as a whole. Outsider think that we are extremely rich so they also try to squeeze our $$ loh.

ya coz both last time bid for BPL and eventually ST got it for 400m in 3 years

 

last time when these either 1 never come into picture,it's FOC.

 

eventually recently 1 come kaypo,jack up the price..now FIFA asked for more...

 

IIRC WC is FOC last time....at least TCS time...if wana tell me is last time..look so many countries are FOC too..

 

wonder why MediaC never bid it????no nid to wonder why...here everything want $....thats why make a football fans pissed ,as some course of actions..eventually fall onto those who eventually look it as a passion

when people say it is a matter of principal not to pay the $70 for world cup, i think it is a load of rubbish. it is not as if it is $700 or $7000. albiet it is an increase from the $20 in the previous world cup, we all know that this is due to the increase in the fee paid to fifa, and singtel and starhub was held to their ransom (thats why they took so long to negotiate). you expect things to remain same price forever and better still free while hoping wages keep increasing ? this is so illogical. i understand if people say dont pay $10 for a bowl of wanton mee which cost $3 everywhere, but the world cup is once in four years and prices are inevitably higher. those people who say want to boycott, i wonder if they will watch it for free.

if these trends continue..in future..whatever it is ,either broadcast rights etc...we ure kana big time..and end up consumers will tio..

If you look around this region, no countries charge their people for watching World cup or EPL. It is only in Singapore that people get charged for watching sports.

 

And this $70 is ridiculous. It is obvious that this is to make Singtel/Starhub having another glowing annual report during their AGM. Good for their shareholders, but not for me.

 

So sorry..in today's internet and tehcnology age, there are many other avenues to watch WC for free. Silly to pay 70 or change to MIO just for soccer and make Singtel richer.

Fifa already took Sg as commercial business deals already,not as in Countries bradcast issues rights already

 

cannot blame..can only blame the 2 of the who want to build portfolios

 

AGM,stalkholders never ask why use 400mil to take BPL?ROI is like?

yes...agreed! for sure i can affort the damn $70 but it is a matter of how this country of us is functioning......we are always carrothead here..period....
