Astro 1st Gear June 22, 2010 Share June 22, 2010 Was in Soeul recently for holiday and chanced upon a Rolex in the DFS and wanted very much to get it as the price is cheaper as compared to those sold in Singapore. Wifey said since I am going to Europe soon i,e, Frankfurt, Germany soon. It will be cheaper to get it over in Europe. So I go along with the argument but was told by my colleague that is not the case. Was wondering if anyone had purchased any watch in the DFS store in Frankfurt and indeed it id cheaper to get a Rolex there. Not too sure if I have missed the boat in Korea recently. Thanks ↡ Advertisement
Weizhen77 Neutral Newbie June 22, 2010 Share June 22, 2010 (edited) As far as I've heard, Rolex sold in European countries may not be cheaper than those sold in Asia, i.e. Hong Kong. Edited June 22, 2010 by Weizhen77

Chewbacca 1st Gear June 23, 2010 Share June 23, 2010 So, Hong Kong is probably the cheapest? Strange, I really expected the country of origin to be the cheapest. I've been telling myself to get a decent watch (2k ish, perhaps, decent enough for me), but, always, something else better to spend my money on turns up. Thanks Rolexes may not be cheaper in Europe, in fact most luxury watches seem to be cheap via HKG. However, certain models of Rolexes are cheapewr in Japan. Difference in the warranty. You may not get an International one. Those sold in Japan I think carry only domestic warranties. If you are looking for cheap watches, I suggest you source it online. A lot of websites sell discounted watches without warranties. If you need the warranty, HKG or Japan sounds like good bets for your Rolex.
Watwheels Supersonic June 23, 2010 Share June 23, 2010 (edited) Actually TS dun need to travel overseas for a better price of your desired watch. Have you went around to ask local distributors? Typical discounts given to luxury watches are 20% off the price tag. If you offer to pay cash in full you might be able to get additional 5% or max additional 10% on top of the 20%. Depending on your bartering skill. You buy overseas you have to factor in things like airfare, add up you end up spending more. For Sports model mostly selling at list price, Daytona even selling at premium price. Unless buy from those oversea AD or those LNIB condition. Rollagt 5th Gear June 23, 2010 Share June 23, 2010 Different countries had different tax structure for goods and services. Example, a Swatch watch in Shanghai cost more than Spore..

Schneider79 Clutched June 23, 2010 Share June 23, 2010 It's more ex to buy luxury watches in Europe. If wanna buy, try Hong Kong. This is not true. It solely depends on which watch and design you are eyeing at. Most important thing is... which AD is the one controlling the brand in Singapore. ↡ Advertisement
