Billyone Neutral Newbie July 3, 2010 Author Share July 3, 2010 Remember to buy their extended warranty. OK will take your advice but apparently HP comes with 3 years warranty (parts) and 1 year on site this is what i read on the website their extended warranty not cheap i guess i agree with you and will take it up thank you
5936 1st Gear July 3, 2010 Share July 3, 2010 I bought extended warranty for all electronics ( camcorders, LCD monitors, PC, notebooks). These things cannot do component repair. usually card or motherboard, or screen replacement. very expensive. My wife notebook failed to start up last year. I got a motherboard replacement FOC-- thanks to extended warranty. The 3+1 warranty looks good to me. usually, by that time PC will need a replacement. Eyke Supercharged July 3, 2010 Share July 3, 2010 now got faster USB 3. if want faster boot up, can consider getting a SSD as a boot drive. also might want to get an IPS LCD monitor for better color accuracy.
5936 1st Gear July 3, 2010 Share July 3, 2010 USB 2 & 3 competible? What is IPS LCD? Is it better than HD LCD or LED? Thank you
Kax2 Neutral Newbie July 3, 2010 Share July 3, 2010 U listed alot of spec but no price ? Superstores earn very high margin, if you buy extented warranty u are just feeding them more. You need to understand that IT products have a very short lifespan. Most people will want to upgrade their system within 3 years. Save the extended warranty purchase for your next PC. Challenger do have some good deals for older stock, but I don't think i5 processor PC is one of them. Usually DIY will get you better spec at around the same price but is really troublesome putting everything together and then installing the softwares and drivers. There will always be trade offs.... I work for IT product distributor finance btw...
Ehchang8 Neutral Newbie July 4, 2010 Share July 4, 2010 i also won't buy the extended warranty. 3 years is long enough for a change. furthermore if can last 3 years, most likely can last longer.
Lala81 Hypersonic July 4, 2010 Share July 4, 2010 if u're purely video and photo editing. ur priorities are 1. memory - 6gb definitely enough 2. Storage - 2 Tb ok 3. Graphics - i dunno what cards are good for video editing, google? 4. Color accuracy for photo editing - may want to get an IPS lcd as per above recomemndations. Can google for models which are IPS screens. U can consider getting Dell which allows u to mix-match to a certain extent?
Krado Clutched July 4, 2010 Share July 4, 2010 USB 2 & 3 competible? What is IPS LCD? Is it better than HD LCD or LED? Thank you IPS LCD = the most accurate monitor panel type in the market and also the MOST expensive.

Billyone Neutral Newbie July 4, 2010 Author Share July 4, 2010 thanks guys my first computer was IBM along the way many DIY but most OK but when get into trouble cant find someone to help especially DIY then bought HP, Mitsubishi and finally DELL Dell OK but the package is nice and all that's it you are left to die on your own you need to fix it up yourself the 30 days so call help is not helpful that is why I am thinking of giving HP a chance and buy the Pavilion Elite 100 series which should last for some time this configuration got a blue ray reader but does that mean it cannot read CD and cannot write dvd
Grindcore888 Clutched July 4, 2010 Share July 4, 2010 (edited) i second that ! struggle with Windows and got MAC eventually, iDVD is a breeze, iMovies, well, learning curve much much shorter... Edited July 4, 2010 by Grindcore888

Mike1234 1st Gear July 4, 2010 Share July 4, 2010 Actually i didn't buy extended warranty for any electronics which i had bought.... Feel like its kinda waste of money... Rosschang 1st Gear July 5, 2010 Share July 5, 2010 Get a mac... and never look back... Or a dell... love the dell's onsite extented warranties. Anything wrong, just call, instead of hogging ur rig all over singapore.
Chewbacca 1st Gear July 5, 2010 Share July 5, 2010 Got a feeling that it's over speced. Does video editing need 6GB RAM? And....2TB HD? That's definitely over kill. I have 1TB. I download lots of...erm, stuff and I still just about 500GB in over....1.5 years. And put the price. And, if you're concerned about after sales services, Dell is SUPPOSED to have the best around. A call and they drop by. No personal experience since I only DIY. ↡ Advertisement
