I am a cyclist who cycle regularly at parks as well...because the road is too dangerous for me to endure...and cycling at park is good enough distance for me...from ford rd to changi end and back is easily 30km...

looking at a perspective of a driver...if the bicycle wants to get onto the road....they need first to get two things done....pay road tax....and buy insurance coverage....and yes....get a license....should there is any form of transportation on road that requires no insurance....why should the rest need insurance ??? simple logic.... ^_^

Nail it right on the bull's eye!!!!

Isn't cycling on ECP more dangerous than road? Ppl anyhow cycle. Ppl anyhow walk. Cycling path become walking path. Walking path become cycling path.

I have been cycling to work since Dec 2007. In addition, i cycle to Novena (via Bkt Timah Rd) every tues evening. I don't find it dangerous. In fact, it is faster than MRT.

According to the law, minimum coverage is Third Party Liability for all motorised vehicle.

This morning while i was driving up 99 bend. After exit, i saw 2 cyclist occupy the 3rd lane. Side by side, machiam their father's road. Stop at the traffic light, then slowly cycle off. Everyone driving or riding need to siam them.

Then when reach holland road, WORSE!

1 stupid angmo woman cyclist, stop her bicycle at the middle lane, While waiting for the traffic light! Then when green light, she was cycling 10km/h at the same lane! CCB!

These cyclists are simply so selfish! [furious][furious] [furious]

Agree these are idiots ... traffic rules clearly state that cyclist must keep to the side.

These pseudo pro-looking cyclists are too much ...

anyhow cycle and anyhow walk is dangerous...i would probably assume you would agree anyhow drive is as dangerous as well...not to mention anyhow cycle on a "road"...yes a road....motorways becoming cycling path !!!! why the park is dangerous...i could say is because of parents whom do no know how to teach their kids because they only know how to bring them to this world...sad to say so but it is the truth...but at least in a park..u get hurt but not get kill...not happening now does not means will not happen in future...i learn...never think it is safe....when you think so...it is when accident happened....motorised vehicle need 3rd party insurance...well time have change....the law need to as well....non-motorised should too be included...we say we share it...we must share the responsibility as well...when we keep saying we share and we entitle...but when it comes to responsibilty....we just walk round the garden...wow...that's how our society is becoming... [hur][hur] anyway i am rather confused....i just try not to get killed....and not to killed anyone.... [hur][hur]

Just treat any bicycle on the road as a road vehicle and your frustration is gone. It's all in the mind.

As a good driver, it's your responsibility to ensure the safety of your vehicle occupants as well as other road users, not whine about how the entire world should revolve around you.

The truth is, no matter how one cry or wail about rogue cyclists, drivers, buses, cabs or pedestrians, you can't control them all.

The one and only person you can control 100% and made any difference is you yourself.

Instead of cursing and swearing at anyone that slows you down on the road, think about how you can make a safe overtaking maneuver and execute it and move on with your life. Regardless of why they are slow or any reasons, just remember they also got a family like you. Do your part to keep everybody safe.

Cycle in group will hold up drivers. So, cyclist should cycle individually especially in places with 1 lane (from your POV).

My POV is that cyclists should obey traffic rules and don't hold up traffic, regardless of being in a group or alone

On the overpass, there is traffic lite. So, traffic is moving at a lower speed as compared to underpass.

Another person can reason that because traffic is lighter, the drivers may be more prone to speeding. I really don't see the contention of this line of arguement. In any case, if there's a requirement to on cyclists to use either the overpass/underpass, then they should use it. Cos that's the one that safeguards their safety

i understand and i agree...yesterday I was making a tight turn from orchard rd after mac donald hse onto the road outside park mall...I was on the right lane and when the light turn green I started to negotiate the tight 90 degree bend...and paying attention to vehicle on my left....cause if i am too far to the left...i might hit them when both turn right at the same time....so when i was concentrating on turning....suddenly a china woman on bicycle appear on the right of my car....I was already so close to the kerb already and yet she still squeeze in...so F...I was turning...she want to die...she could....but please don't find problem with me cause I will be in trouble as well if I knock her down....and be it right or wrong....should she knock her head against the kerb when she fall and die...i don't think I will live with a good feeling....so to cyclist...if you want to live a shorter life which i doubt you do and do not really care about your own safety...i don't really care too....but just don't let your inresponsible action affect me...

and the cycling thing is getting worst if everyone observe it.... [shakehead][shakehead]

I'm shock to see comment like pay road tax n the entitlement for the road use, be a little gracious abit here, whether they are right or wrong, you don't get any goods by knocking them down even when they are wrong... you have a whole lifetime of remorse to heal if tat happen.

And for road tax, looking at the bike they r riding I bet some of those rider may be paying a more road tax than us here

in the first place except for tampines, cycling on pedestrian pathways is against the law. bloody hell, still incessantly ring like we should siam for them. when you walk very fast and need to overtake slower walkers, do you keep shouting

OEI OEI OEI SIAM LA? You don't right? So much for courtesy.

On Anak Bukit, should cyclist use overpass or underpass (from ur POV)?

In case you fail to comprehend my reply, I'll phrase it in the way (I hope) you can understand. My 'POV" is that they should cycle on whichever road that they are allowed/supposed to.

It's not about my/his/her/your POV. It's about using the system in the manner it was designated to. If left to everyone's 'POV'

1.Some cyclists' 'POV" is that they should be on pavements

2.Some cyclists' 'POV" is that they need not follow traffic rules

3.Some cyclists' 'POV" is that they should cycle against flow of traffic

Also

4.Some people's 'POV' is that cyclists should be banned

5.Some people's 'POV' is that cyclists deserves to be knocked down

Are you that 'opened minded' to accept everyone's 'POV'? .... or only that thay you like?

That's because we're lucky enough to live in the east with a long park connector [cool]

I stilll have to cycle on the road to go to the bike shop. <_<
