Tigershark1976 Turbocharged August 5, 2010 Share August 5, 2010 nothing new, but there is still people who is willing to pay extra for the marketing... for me, i wont pay even a single cents more for a higher octane rated petrol that my car doesnt need... Of cos, thats just me, for those who feel great by paying a few cents more per litre of petrol... so be it.. afterall, if paying a few cents more can make you happy, go ahead.. Of cos, thats just me, for those who feel great by paying a few cents more per litre of petrol... so be it.. afterall, if paying a few cents more can make you happy, go ahead.. Even my own brother also trying to sell me the idea that V-power give better power and mileage. He told me he could "feel" the power . For Mileage, I asked him how signifcant in term of dollar per litre, can't tell precisely too. I still use V-power but only do it in JB. In SG (seldom pump in SG already) will use 95 or even 92 at caltex. I rather spend more to change my EO and Oil filter every 5~6K and ATF every 20K then to spend a little more for high octance petrol. At least, the engine block and gearbox are clean most of the time. Kr_toy 1st Gear August 5, 2010 Share August 5, 2010 (edited) Yes but most car nowadays have ECU that will adjust timing according to the fuel octane, except some economical car. This is one technique used by car manufacturer to produce better mileage by trying aggressive timing to produce more torque. However not many people can accept what the ECU can do to their car Edited August 5, 2010 by Kr_toy

Sp33dst3r Neutral Newbie August 6, 2010 Author Share August 6, 2010 Bottom line, high octane petrol only benefits high performance models such as turbocharged, supercharged & high comp engine. Its a waste of $$$ for all others.
Dwoon 1st Gear August 6, 2010 Share August 6, 2010 Dun use JB V-Power.......... its worse off in term of "knock" performance, compared to other 97Ron petrol there.
