SimonTan 2nd Gear August 11, 2010 Share August 11, 2010 Looking at one of the advertiser selling a Korean smart entry system, where the car door will auto unlock once it detect a transpondent(keyfob) nearby. It will also auto lock the car door once the transpondent is away from car. As I just bought a new car, would like to have this smart key entry system for my car. The keyfob will remai in my pant pocket all the time while the car door unlock and lock depending I am near to the car or leaving the car. This keyless system plus a push button engine start/ stop would make my car like nissan or high end Bmw/lexus/mercs. I would like to gather some feedbacks from car owners who have installed and using this keyless cum push button system. Any comments and recommendation? Reliable? Or any weird and unsatisfactory operation experiences to share? Thanks. ↡ Advertisement
Laksabagus Neutral Newbie August 11, 2010 Share August 11, 2010 Hi I own the new Toyota Wish that comes with keyless entry. So far so good. It is like you said, only when near it will unlock. By that I mean like next to the car. Most times when I leave the car, I will lock with the transponder rather than leave it to lock itself(for security sake) Recently, I experienced a flat car batt situation. No matter how I pressed transponder, didn't work. But the Wish came with a detachable key encased inside transponder, I used it to open my car door. And after I changed the car battery, the push start worked as per normal. So while you can change to keyless, you still need spare key in a flat batt situation. SimonTan 2nd Gear August 12, 2010 Author Share August 12, 2010 Is your keyless original? Or aftermarket installed locally? I need more feedback before I plonk down $500 for the system.
Leok777 Clutched August 12, 2010 Share August 12, 2010 I was thinking of getting the aftermarket keyless entry but I was warned by guys that it maybe a danger especially if you got to Msia alot cos the door will unlock before u reach the door(abt 10m). Worst case scenario is if baddies are waiting at your car. Its different from the original keyless entry which unlocks the door only when u try to open the door and have the transponder on u. Doesn't unlock as u APPROACH. Hope this helps.

Fullmetalalchemist Neutral Newbie August 15, 2010 Share August 15, 2010 Has it met your expectation? Any bad points from your point of usage? Yup definitely meet my expectations. You can even choose where you want the push start button to be. No need to drive any hole! Just a stick on with tapes. So far no bad points. And the good part is that, you won't need your car keys after installation! But need to prepare a spare key for installation, they will cut the key and insert it in the keyhole to overwrite the steering wheel lock.
